This won't get as many likes as it deserves:

As long as Bitcoin is isolated in it's use as a store of value asset, it's high volatility will remain.

Only with the removal of capital gains, and the adoption as a currency (or shorter term medium of exchange) can Bitcoin's volatily dampen, and it thus becoming the fixed ruler of value.
