I no longer feel lost

Outside a library. Idk

When’s the right time to get into Greek mythology

Puppets voting for puppets

The fed exists to break things and save what it wants to save

Let’s get back to Main Street

Forget the polls

How do we know the truth without feeling what could be false?

Freedom of being wrong, freedom of being lost

Removing boundaries makes the world smaller

I want to live in a smaller world

Debt isn’t money

Debt is a promise

Use money, not promises

Met a friend of a friend who used to work at Santander and recently started a new role at a money remitter.

It’s a company similar to Western Union.

By the Main course I’d gone off on one about how these companies are parasites preying on the poor and that KYC/AML is borderline evil.

Yeah… how not to make new friends 🤦‍♂️

Anyway, he was genuinely curious why I thought that way.

Really decent bloke coz in hindsight I was being rather insensitive.

He naively said that at banks and these remittances companies, we have AML to stop terrorists. And it works!

I was like, hmm. How deep do I go on this.

His job pays him to think that the incumbent system is good at stopping terrorism and stopping the bad guys.

He hasn’t realised that he kind of is the bad guys. But it’s certainly not on me to tell him that!

naturally he has no idea that KYC/AML is a retardio system that affects the poor and the misfortunate the most and it does sweet f*ck all to stop terrorism.

I gave the example of Peruvians not being able to get bank accounts, Ghanaians then Cape Verdeans cut off from banking before the conversation moved on. Oh and how stupidly expensive it is to send money across borders coz of companies like his. (Oops)

I showed him how to send bitcoin and we talked about how last year, my immediate friend got a bottle of wine paid in btc and it’s now 2x.

I sent him my latest peru video and *I think* I managed to save my first impression.

Anyway, I took two things from this.

a) calm down your arrogant muppet.

we’re in a bizarre bubble in that we’re a bit obsessed with how messed up money is. But some people we literally paid to look the other way. And so, they think their system is helping people. It’s not their fault.

Don’t put your foot in it like me.

Be a bit more understanding. oops.

B) people need a few more triggers and they will eventually get it.

This guy is either really nice or he is on his way to getting it.

We only prevent stupid terrorists
