Founded in 2018 by Mr. Isaac Kiewiets, the Swellendam Spurs soccer project is a nonprofit, youth training program, run completely by community volunteers who work to help uplift the underserved and at-risk children of Railton in Swellendam, South Africa.
When Isaac first started working as the groundskeeper at the municipal community sports grounds in Railton, word quickly spread of his love for soccer.
It was not long before he received a knock on his door from a small group of children requesting that he become their coach.
We are excited to publicly announce our partnership with a very underrated local community project!
We couldn't have imagined a more worthy project for us to be teaming up with. We are thrilled and honoured to have the Swellendam Spurs on board!

One year ago I was a frustrated lover of Bitcoin, I didn’t know what to do. I’ve been learning about Bitcoin and Lightning for years. I was even at the meetup where this was introduced:

But still, I didn’t know what to do. I desperately wanted to do SOMETHING.
I spent years of my free time learning all about Bitcoin, mining, transactions, segwit, Lightning, etc.
Still, I didn’t know how I could add to anything. What could I contribute?
I’m not that smart. I can’t do cryptography well. I know a lot about Bitcoin but there’s nothing new I think needs to be added.
Lightning was another chance to be at the vanguard but I wasn’t good enough to contribute on that level.
Then, after years of feeling on the outside of something I love I decided to go to BTC Miami. I don’t know what it’s actually called. When I was there I just wanted so bad to be a part of one of these awesome projects.
When people asked me what I did. All I could say was that I love Bitcoin and I want to help. A lot of people feel that way I think.
But, since then I made it a goal of mine to do SOMETHING, ANYTHING that contributes to the thing I love.
That was Nostr. Specifically Damus. I finally found something I could do. It’s not a huge contribution but I feel like I’m finally in the arena. I have a foothold on something that I can work on.
I feel so grateful that we have Bitcoin, it attracted the kind of people that would create Nostr. Thank you.
