I create Fediverse software that empowers people online. I'm vegan btw. Note: If you have a question for me, please tag me publicly. This gives the opportunity for others to chime in, and bystanders to learn.

Your mom is a key-value store.

I’m dealing with some problems that have actual performance implications, which is interesting. I could do it the cheeseburger way and install Redis, but I like to see what’s possible without and if it actually does cause a performance problem first.

strfry policies can’t maintain any state between calls, so I’m going to dump data into text files and then read them again between every single event. Should be fun and totally won’t lead to race conditions at all.

Literally everyone’s favorite game. Although Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 is a close second.

It’s hard to censor people on a censorship-resistant social network.

The Nostr -> ActivityPub pipeline subscribes to all events from relay.mostr.pub. I’m planning to write some strfry policies to improve the spam problem for everyone. And I might re-architect this, but ultimately it will need to listen for Nostr events from somewhere in order to push them through the pipeline. So it will just be someone else’s relay getting spammed.

There needs to be an anti-spam measure where if you send a bogus event like this, we punish you by sending back high resolution 20MB base64-encoded Shrek gifs nonstop. Websockets go both ways.

It was like 40 members, the counter dropped when I got banned.

There should absolutely be a “delete all anime” button for the Fediverse

Well, I completely exhausted the idea of signing Nostr events with a Trezor hardware wallet, until I discovered someone was trying to do the exact same thing 8 months ago and it’s not possible because they don’t sign using Schnorr signatures. It only took about 6 hours to figure that out, how’s your Saturday going?

Actually, no. Now that you wrote this out, I realize it basically never happens. But when it does, a video goes viral. If it happened every day there would be no reason for it to go viral.
