programmatically speaking, a user who is new and has little to no engagement on the timeline shouldn't be messaging > x users. this is a simple check that can make this super easy to deal with. truly

I wouldn't just because some people sign up just to send jim well wishes privately. they should be allowed to do that and shouldn't have it taken away because a handful of people want to spoil it for the bunch. also that will just push those accounts further down and out of sight making the spam less likely to be caught

yeah im thinking of ways to deal with it programmatically. like an hourly check if this user is < x days old and has < x posts but has > x messages deactivate the account.

the likelihood that someone who is new and hasn't engaged with anyone but is messaging a bunch of people is fed or spam related is very high. right?
