As #China’s economy continues to erode, we have to ask: How much longer can #XiJinping afford to fund his military?

Government stimulus is increasingly ineffective and is adding to #China’s crazy debt load. See below.

A friend told me this: “No one knows how to fix #China.” I agree because all I can say is “Overthrow the #CCP,” which is only a beginning to a long process of implementing a fix.

The military risk for #Taiwan is less #China initiating hostilities with an invasion of the island and more with Taiwan becoming embroiled after #XiJinping picks what he thinks is an easier target elsewhere and the conflict then spreads everywhere.

Taking #Taiwan by force will never be a “slam dunk” for #China. That’s not to say #XiJinping will never invade. After all, we cannot rule out desperation or delusion.

#America’s democracy is permitting change. #China’s semi-totalitarian system is not, unless of course you consider a return to Maoism as “change.”

#American politics were also nasty in the first years of the republic.

Will a big spending package rescue #China’s economy? Yes, “bazooka stimulus” might do the trick for a short period, but the PBOC, in what is in reality a stagnant environment, would have to run the printing presses to get the cash. That would tank the #yuan.

The slowdown in #China’s GDP—Q2 growth was reported to be 4.7%, down from Q1’s 5.3%—was primarily due to weak consumption. The #Chinese people are pessimistic about the future and so are not spending.
