A friend says the occupancy rate at the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel is now 54%. Normally, it would be 100% this time of year. Why so low? One reason is that, around the world, people think #LosAngeles is unsafe.
Perhaps the biggest mistake we make about #China is to believe it’s leaders are long-term thinkers. At the moment, I think #XiJinping makes decisions with a time horizon of a week, maybe a month.
Why? Because #China’s exporters have been accelerating production and shipments to beat expected higher tariffs. Robust export growth looks like a sugar high. Results in coming months will be crucial.
Leave #China before they prohibit you from doing so.
There will never be a better time to leave #China than now. Leave while you still can.
#China’s holders of #dollars want to remain in hard currencies. Apart from those in carry trades, interest-rate differentials look like a secondary factor in their decisions as to what currencies to hold.
It is not a “Western narrative” to compare #XiJinping to #DengXiaoping. The #Chinese themselves do this all the time. And how could they not? After all, they have to live the nightmare of #China’s current leader all the time.
