Fall of Eagles tells the story of the end of three great empires brought to ruin by the Great War, namely Hapsburg Austria, Hohenzollern Germany, and Romanov Russia (each of which used an eagle in their heraldry, hence the title of the series). It starts in 1848 and runs down to 1918, managing to cover about 70 years of history in 13 episodes.

Next up: Where Eagles Dare

Haven't read AT in years and since you mention it, I'm glad that I haven't. I know a few of the oldtimers from there and they split after Conde Nast took over. The writers are mostly woke cultists now.

Holy moly, reading slashdot these days is like peeking into a lunatic asylum where they decided to do constant circlejerking and fistfighting at the same time.

It's when you pass north of Birmingham that it starts getting hairy and hairier the closer you get to Glasgow.

Bitcoin is up 7,5% on the day following the stock market. Countercyclical my arse.

Trump didn't start this populist movement; it has been growing under various names (eg: the Tea Party) for 25 years as a reaction to unmoderated progressivism. He just arrived at the right time and took advantage of a strong anti-woke backlash.

He'll be gone soon enough (likely sooner considering his age), but remember the man did literally dodge a bullet. That's worth at least a little bit of superhuman cred.

Exactly. It started when Bush the Younger managed to unify the Christian Right after the Clinton years.

As the Liberal-Left of the USA has become increasingly extremist, in part folloeing the race-worship up to and after Obama's election, the rise of mass social media and the resulting explosion of 'wokeness', so did "MAGA" coalesce in return.

MAGA is just a mirror to the US Liberal-Progressive establishment cultism.

"Also it should be noted that to help achieve its amazing speed the reactors of the Alfas used fuel rods that were basically weapons grade fissile materiel. Following the collapse of the Soviet Union the Kazakh military stumbled upon a stockpile of fuel rods meant for the Alfas stored in what was basically a barn house secured with a 19th-century padlock. The Kazakhs had no way of knowing about it since all records of their storage were in Moscow, not in Astana. Seeing it as a proliferation risk they managed to get the US to secretly transport it out of the country so the rods could be down-blended into normal reactor-grade fuel. The affair was known as "Project Sapphire" and you can learn more about it from David E. Hoffman's excellent book, "The Dead Hand.""
