Do any of you dark hooded superhackers know any reputable virtual phone service that can get me a fully functional US phone number, just on a phone app or computer? It must include SMS for 2FA and all that crap. It's for work, so it's not about having a one-time throwaway number to bypass OTP or any of that, but a permanent kind of number. #ask_the_Nostr

So much for financial privacy as one of their main value propositiom for investors.
Damn. Not ready to be so vigilant about stuff like this on the Nostr just yet. Will need to start.
Definitely none of them were Spanish.
But I can confirm that despite American insistence on correcting how they pronounce their registered trade mark names, people in Spain do call these two brands "Ree Book" and "Nyke".
nostr:npub1sn0wdenkukak0d9dfczzeacvhkrgz92ak56egt7vdgzn8pv2wfqqhrjdv9 just mentioned that most Nostr users are using custodial Lightning wallets to receive zaps. Users don't want to run their own server to receive offline donations. We need better non custodial Lightning wallets. Looking forward to a world where I can visit a conference in the global south and see everyone using a self custodial wallet!
I have two issues.
The first one is fundamental: I do not believe BTC should be used as currency *just yet*, and even when it plateaus and its fiat price volatility is similar to that of gold, I will probably still think the same. It's just too valuable as a store of value. To me paying in BTC is akin to paying in land or gold. Absurd.
That said, if we *have to* use it for small payments, I think the whole concept of Lightning with its channels should be made analogous to topping up a debit card, or a prepaid phone card, or something like that.
Many people are used to operating like that, so "just" (I know...) target them.
I'm not one of them, and I thoroughly hate the concept of having to top up, but that doesn't mean anything.
‚Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said on Thursday the government will spend over 17 trillion yen, or $113 billion, on a package of measures to cushion the economic blow from #inflation, which will include tax cuts.‘
🤡
https://www.cnbc.com/2023/11/02/japan-unveils-113-billion-package-to-cushion-inflation.html
When the government runs deficits, tax cuts are neutral against inflation but good overall because the money would be spent anyway, but at least it won't be misallocated by the government and their cronies. So, if they were simply counting the taxes they will stop collecting and misallocating as "spending", that'd be OK.
The problem is that's not what's going to happen because they will not just stop collecting $13 B, but a much smaller amount. They will keep issuing debt and having the BoJ buy it with freshly printed yens which is the real problem.
Yeah, I though so, I was watching too (despite the constant interruptions of the service). But I think generally speaking if we're all here on the Nostr its because to an extent we all get it, and instead of huddling in a corner alone in despair we choose to huddle in a corner with other people who get it and have a plan.
*Couldn't
Could follow it, it kept getting disconnected every minute. Real pity. Did zap for support though.
Not truth itself, but how you take it. Oftentimes that's something you can control (not always, do not believe those who say such things).
Wasteful. You can store at least five times the amount of scooters.
You can even not park any bicycles at all and simply walk and use the space for something else too.
Absolute trash. I used to use Primal. Never again, and I have added their team to *my* list of cunts whom will never ever again receive my support in anything they do.
Today I was running some numbers and in order to hit my pre-halvening goals I still need to stack sats worth almost 2 months of income.
My pet Bitcoin peeve is when people keep talking about "4 year cycle" and saying that the halvening is "every 4 years".
I think 2 months is a length of time significant enough that we should be a lot more mindful about it. 46 months is very different to 48 months. In just a couple of cycles you move across very different times of the year with different seasonalities. Maybe this year's Uptember and Uptober have had to do with this.
One of the things I love the most about BCS is the silences. Those incredibly beautiful wide angle shots, without music or words. The actors are spot on. It's just brilliant.
What an amazing show by the way. Breaking Bad was excellent but I think Better Call Saul is a masterpiece.
Mood: post-meal ball sunning.
