Putting the sauce in awesome

Currently watching a horror movie about evil Amish.

One further note about MAUs and the #Fediverse:

The common number for this month is 1.2M MAUs—but this has a giant caveat.

This doesn’t count #Threads, which has implemented many aspects of #ActivityPub

It also doesn’t count *most* #Misskey servers, which don’t publish MAUs—and Misskey makes up 9% of the Fediverse.

I also know that Friendica servers and MAUs are underreported.

So while that 1.2M MAUs figure is helpful, it’s not entirely accurate.

Right now, #Pixelfed currently boasts 196,395 Monthly Active Users (MAUs).

In comparison, #Mastodon has 847,163 MAUs.

This means Pixelfed’s active user base is approximately 23% the size of Mastodon’s.

Here’s a list of the many forums powered by #NodeBB:

Just got a package in the mail: a reel-to-reel tape.

And it is Harry Zimmerman’s *Band with a Beat*, which is a big band jazz album with a touch of swing.

This will be epic!

Tim Berners-Lee, the Founder of the World Wide Web, is on the Fediverse. @timbl@w3c.social is his account, so give him a follow.

And he just wrote a great note about Solid Protocol, a relatively new initiative that will allow everyone to control their own personal data.

Great TechCrunch article about NodeBB joining the #Fediverse where they explain what #NodeBB is, and why this is an important development—not only to the Fediverse—but also the Internet.

Big developments coming to ActivityPods:

* groups storages

* better integration of ActivityPub with Solid protocol

* Nextgraph integration

Now what is ActivityPods? A framework to create decentralized apps by addressing the headache of having to constantly create new accounts on each service. ActivityPods gives you one profile, one outbox, one inbox and one list of followers - all in a single place.

Look, if Elon Musk is banning the word “Democrat” from Twitter Search, it’s about god damn time that the Fediverse improves its social discovery game.

Just a reminder that I’m not an American, have never been an American, and will never be an American—no matter what Trump wishes.

So I had an odd experience the other day.

Someone told me I was being a reply guy. The thing was, they were replying to my post—I was not replying to them. And I think to be a reply guy, you have to reply.

I think what this person wanted was to reply to me, and just have me shut up while they dispensed with the truth bombs. But I assume that if you’re talking to me, you probably want a dialogue. Otherwise, why be in my mentions?

Everyone needs to learn about intersectionality:

That we’re all privileged in one sense but also oppressed in another. And we all must be mindful of this duality, and how they intersect.

So far, Wraith is a good book.

It’s basically Star Trek meets Taken. A retired space captain’s daughter has gone missing. So he assembles a crew to find her.

Cheap Trick - Live at Budokan

This is a phenomenal album.

And this tape still sounds great for something made in 1978.

I’m fully aware that not everyone likes #Pixelfed and wishes there was an alternative.

Well, I got great news! Pixelfed is open source and you can fork it!

Almost all of the Fediverse has forks: Mastodon has forks and Misskey has forks. Hell, I’m using a fork right now: Akkoma, which is a fork of Pleroma.

If you want to build that Pixelfed alternative, it’s a fork away!

As of today, #Pixelfed now makes up 4% of the Fediverse’s userbase.

And it’s now close to overtaking #Lemmy and #Peertube in terms of software distribution share.

Just want you all to remember that the Holocaust happened because the Nazi regime was aided by Big Tech in the collection of personal data.

IBM, for example, helped them out.

And who now is collecting our personal data at the behest of governments?

Being a Jew, I’m sure glad I deleted my Twitter account during November 2022.

A Nazi is not authorized to have my personal data anymore.

And by Nazi, I mean Elon Musk.

In one day, just saw MAUs on the #Fediverse jump by appr. 100,000.

Some of this due to #Pixelfed, but a lot is due to #Mastodon.

HEAD’S UP: Do not attempt to register on pixelfed.social!

It’s not able to keep up with demand, and there have been federation outages!

Hence, pixelfed.social has been removed from Pixelfed’s official server list.

Want to use #Pixelfed? Try a different server. There’s over 500 of them available.
