The saber of fencer Olga Kharlan, with which she competed at the Olympic Games in Paris, was sold at auction for 10 million Hryvnias ($242,000). The funds raised will be used to purchase automated turrets called "ShaBlia" (Saber in Ukrainian) for the infantry.
Yaroslava Mahuchikh, the Olympic high jump champion, donated her prize money for the 2024 Olympic Games, 500,000 Hryvnias ($12,000), for military rehabilitation and support for their families. Previously, the Olympic champion had donated one million Hryvnias ($24,000) from her prize money to help animals. The funds go to the animal welfare organization UAnimals and four animal shelters.
