Sometimes I worry though that small scale adoption like this without education is a risky, like people might distrust Bitcoin when the price dips or a technical problem arises with the wallet, which has happened to me more than once when trying to onboard friends (although mainly with custodial wallets, never WoS, but either way) my point is I would love to see more educational efforts happening globally in general, but especially especially ESPECIALLY in conjunction w these initiatives.

Ahh I see - maybe if I purchase an Airalo card while I'm still here in Mexico it might work? I'll look into it. Google Fi seems to be a bit more than I need for 7 days but one can't live without internet so if it's indeed the only way... so be it 🤷🏻♀️🤣

Quick follow up question!!! Did you recommend google fi specifically for a reason or would any eSIM card do? I'm a frequent Airalo user and see they have eSIM cards for China. I have also heard Google fi can be a bit complicated for Canadians and I see the plans are for longer!

This is some seriously sold advice on China travel. And especially the points on Alipay and Wechat. You can't pay for anything here without one of those two payment platforms.

Much like nostr:npub1xjsenwf98zypvyu039f7v767cm3j8sc0jf55qd38x94nn2zw5x9ska3rqt mentioned the place is as safe as you can possibly imagine. Shanghai also has a fantastic subway system and like everything really signage is all dual language. The city is also relatively small and is a great walking city.
