I have no trust in all these "manifest/attract what you want" stories. For ultimately people manipulating and controlling energy are doing this to other people.
Still, so often I noticed and admired how the most wounded pigeons are the bravest, always coming very close. 
Whoever extends judgements of you hitting obstacles is not with you in it.
Naturally, most of our actions are ego driven. For that image that will be passed down to posterity, either through our own family, nation or humanity as large. And there is no blame in it. These images have a function in our collective structure, being created by the experiences and passing forward teachings and guidelines. The confusion of our times is caused mainly by the fact that these images that drive us are false, are created with a purpose to move us (to buy), so the catalyst which should be internal, is moved outside of us. Therefore disembodiment takes place, resulting in internal conflicts, because inner peace is nothing more than the harmony/mutual support, between mind and body. Your unconscious is the camera obscura where your DNA unfolds images, information, reason.
All we can do is to do all that we can.
