Serbia is currently experiencing significant political unrest, primarily driven by widespread protests against corruption and government policies. Student-led demonstrations have been ongoing since November 2024, following a tragic railway station roof collapse in Novi Sad that killed 15 people. These protests have escalated into nationwide strikes and blockades of public broadcaster buildings, leading to confrontations with riot police.
Opposition lawmakers have also shown their discontent through disruptive actions, such as throwing smoke bombs and flares inside the parliament, causing chaos and injuries.
The protests have gained momentum, with students marching from Belgrade to Novi Sad to demand accountability and justice for the victims of the railway station disaster.
