I imagine one problem the studios face with their striking writers is, when you pay people whose specialized labor you require essentially nothing, your leverage to entice them to come back is limited to basically just paying them more. You can’t starve out someone you’ve already starved.

not a knock at gardening as gardening. But if your goal is conservation, there are better ways to do it.

grouchy at people who portray gardening as conservation.

nostr:npub1epdhc0w57typt7hn7ydvp2x9yy47hyv9e3qmagfjrr96cs7y073qdwp67u I get some of that vibe. I also get chattier, more casual conversations, which is nice.

But overall, it feels ephemeral, like it might just go away without much notice.

Conundrum: more of my old Twitter network is on blue sky, but I like it here better.

If you destroy a native grassland to plant trees as a carbon offset, the trees might not hold as much carbon and you may well end up with more carbon releases than had the project never happened.

Planting trees as carbon offsets is ineffective at best, and a grifting, polluting scam at worst.

Perhaps a compromise of sorts is possible. If not full credit, maybe the African American history courses can be counted as 3/5 of a credit.
