nostr:npub1xlsppyq30fth6ce4kd94vweazrf3z5u05lv5vt52sgl7tn4xpvwq06qt5d nice, Brett! I’ve been toying with this since my cat died 4 years ago. #soonMeThinks
nostr:npub1msrejk6d803d0p63vs2wv6e0u5pt06lwl2502lyu4vaj75wcquwsd3rr6j happily, that minute only lasted 2 or 3 actual minutes. Colour me impressed!
nostr:npub1l9xkdkez2wxjys5g40eltawqrgdqxy7qh5zvzl0r9hhxcm3ztj3qmx9raz well, 650ish MB was still larger than many hard drives.
nostr:npub1l9xkdkez2wxjys5g40eltawqrgdqxy7qh5zvzl0r9hhxcm3ztj3qmx9raz My bad. Initially it was a Quadra 840av, not an 8100/80 (that came later). This would’ve been October, 1993. (Please don’t point out that this will have been 30 years ago in a few, short weeks.)
nostr:npub1amu04tt7xyfqawahhg34kjxmmhjtnwwv8ywckcn253aqfc42k87syrua0x yeah; after listening to Pink Floyd The Wall, it’s perfect for lightening the mood. 😆
Not obvious from the eBay link: it’s a novelty CD shaped like Vader’s helmet. Great way to have to disassembled a slot-loading CD player (like in a car dashboard). 🤦♂️🙃

…while Green Party Leader David Coon simply downplays COVID by choosing not to do the simplest possible thing: wearing a mask… These people are exhausting.
The 2000 film The Beach (d. Danny Boyle) has a bit where 3 minor characters are attacked by a shark while fishing. 2 die outright; one, badly wounded, lingers.
Their remote, utopian community initially comes together to help, but turns resentful when forced to endure the survivor’s ongoing cries of suffering. First he’s segregated. Finally, he’s smothered, for everyone else’s benefit.
Anyway, this feels like a metaphor for how society’s chosen to handle long COVID.

nostr:npub1xsymv0rcpcxj360a5274hx2l8d46lhfrz82w0ra3e0kneqkwkxysyxcevg Did you mean to demonstrate this idea? If you do a google search for 'scepticism' it will tell you the meaning of it is the same as 'skepticism'... doesn't make it right lol
nostr:npub1l456c8za5hfge50g53h7j9j07p344wnqzlgsm3989lfn2w8wdf9spwc2kk UK/Canadian English vs. US English. I will admit to being somewhat inconsistent across this line at times. Such is life here in Canadia.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Maybe having heard and read — at an impressionable age — Douglas Adams’ seminal The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, in which the answer to the objectively unanswerable question as to the meaning “of life, the universe, and everything?” is presented as the highly computer-centric “42” inoculated me to all this somehow at some level.
Or maybe it’s that I’ve been building websites since before Google existed, so I’ve been watching the sausage-making too long to fall for it.
