I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.
There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called Linux distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux!

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as Nostr, is in fact, NIPs/Nostr, or as I've recently taken to calling it, NIPs plus Nostr. Nostr is not a social media unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning communication system made useful by the NIP event kinds, clients and the vital relay system comprising tamperproof events via schnorr signatures
Many users run a modified version of the NIP system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of NIPs which is widely used today is often called Nostr, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the NIP system, developed by fiatjaf.
There really is a Nostr, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Nostr is the framework: the system that ensures events are usable and interoperable between clients/relays. Nostr is an essential part of decentralised social media, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete client-relay system. Nostr is normally used in combination with the NIP guidelines: the whole system is basically Nostr with NIPs added, or NIPs/Nostr. All the so-called Nostr distributions are really distributions of NIPs/Nostr!
id like that for finding interesting longform reads, and i think it would be better for longform discoverability
good lil pod chat- i actually like what odell said abt mixing longform and notes within one client.
id love a feed of longform posts and ppl interacting with long form posts, because honestly i only use sites like medium/substack when some creates a post abt a specific article/blog on twitter/nostr nostr:note18puhfltxh4zujt22au82jkztm6aqdgtacemtyu343s57xgwzwj8qlxlqm5
getting close on my lil streaming app
you won’t believe it but i just found a file containing a fully synced node on every mac
Here is an rust Nostr Paywall example project. It responds with 402 Payment Required, unless your NIP-98 HTTP Auth event’s pubkey has been granted access.
https://github.com/blakejakopovic/nostr_paywall_example
It’s a separate project, however it can work together with the lightning payment webhook server I shared yesterday. Payment webhook events can update the DB, and then the paywall can succeed, and provide access for that pubkey for that content.
cool
I got a bunch of Japanese likes: https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/1653275/235898060-977a2173-ae59-4e14-9634-9ac88a59157f.mp4
🏌
point being there’s no such thing as domain squatting or centralised naming authority
would it be possible to make an address-based DNS system that works like nostr profiles.
ie you have a pubkey for your address like an onion address, and you can then assign metadata to it that makes it identifible via ‘human readable’ names/tags
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?
🤣
yea haven’t really been maintaining it :/
doesn’t really matter i’ve just been having fun tinkering with cln plug-in’s and my cln node is the only one i really use on zeus anymore
