Random person on the internet. I sometimes blog or work on projects I might talk about here. Made a hacked together Python client for Nostr, ActivityPub, & AT: https://github.com/0n4t3/nipy

Not even in the source code. And it wasn’t even a website with ads or something. The only way was via newsletter.

Mine is, therefore, at the end of every post.

Kill The Newsletter can convert email newsletters to RSS, it's come in handy for me a few times

I threw cloudflare in front on a server last night, and wow, I forgot how much it can improve things. Especially the complex stuff that benefits from the caching.

I'll second that, KeePass has worked really well for me and it's long random passwords are way better than anything I can remember

I've been working on a project and wanted to see if my fellow internet citizens would find it useful or would be interested in helping me build it out.

I made followanything.dns7.top a GitHub repo with the goal of listing out as many ways to follow various types of content with #RSS #email #Activitypub & #Nostr that otherwise couldn't usually be (e.g. YouTube videos). No ads/trackers/self promo on it. It's a draft rn but if you have any ways to improve it I'd love for you to send me a pull request, email, or Nostr message.

The random characters are because Nostr uses crypto (as in encryption, it's also where crypto currencies get their name but nostr is not running on crypto currencies) keys to identify accounts. It looks a little less weird on the Nostr side, but the fediverse & Nostr are bridged and sometimes it looks a bit weird when that happens. (Shoutout to Mostr.pub which makes it possible).

The difference between decentralized and federated is Nostr accounts are not tied to a specific server but created locally and mirrored on relays (servers), and Activity Pub is set up on a particular server that can communicate with other servers. Pros and cons to both.

Even if it looks a bit weird, they're probably just following you because you post good content.

YouTube Has Gone Too Far This Time by Mental Outlaw

I can't verify for sure since it's never happened to me and I can't read JavaScript, but if he's reviewing code on screen it's probably happening (or a REALLY well put together reddit hoax).

If Google is really seceretly sabotaging #Firefox that's some pretty big news in my opinion, especially with the anti trust cases in the #news lately for Google and other various big tech.

Saw your post on ActivityPub/Bluesky federation, the Bridgy-Fed project is actually in progress to try and accomplish that and might be worth looking into. Same deal with this post (assuming it works) being bridged from Nostr to Activitypub/via Mostr.

I was so close to coasting in neutral from the highway exit to my destination a bit ago. Traffic light stopped me though :(

That's got to be some sort of mistake, I saw it and don't remember anything that could even remotely be considered controversial. Hopefully you've appealed?
