Predictions by economists that failed spectacularly:

Telephones:

In 1876 Western Union, the largest American telegraph company, refused to buy Graham Bell's patent for one hundred thousand dollars, arguing that people are not savy enough to handle a phone: "Bell expects that the public will use his instrument without the aid of trained operators. Any telegraph engineer will at once see the fallacy of this plan. The public simply cannot be trusted to handle technical communications equipment. A group of British experts thought somewhat differently: The telephone may be appropriate for our American cousins, but not here, because we have an adequate supply of messenger boys."

Lightbulbs:

A few years later, a committee of the British Parliament evaluated Thomas Edison's lightbulb and concluded that it would be "good enough for our trans-Atlantic friends … but unworthy of the attention of practical or scientific men."

Trains:

Rail travel at high speed is not possible because passengers, unable to breathe, would die of asphyxia [suffocation]." Dr. Dionysius Lardner (1793-1859), professor at University College London, and author of a book on the steam engine, was one of several doctors who prophesized that the rapid movement of trains would cause death or brain trouble among travelers and vertigo among onlookers.

Cars:

Car pioneer Gottieb Daimler (1834-1900) believed that there would never be more than one million cars worldwide because of the lack of available drivers. Daimler based this prediction on the false assumption that cars would have to be operated by chauffeurs.

Computers:

Howard Aiken, who constructed the Mark I computer for IBM in 1943, reminisced: "Originally one thought that if there were a half dozen large computers in this country, hidden away in research laborato-ries, this would take care of all requirements we had throughout the country. This prediction was based on the false assumption that computers would solve scientific problems on.

How many ‘experts’ called #Bitcoin  a scam and called it dead?

British Experts Richy... Best in the World 😂

I've been thinking about this because I've been asked a few times and always found it difficult to explain but at last I think I have the answer.

Me: Well you know how Twitter is a network for talking and insta is a network for pictures, YouTube is a network for videos etc

Them: yeh

Me: well Bitcoin is a network for money, the only difference is that instead of a company running it getting steamrollered by Governments it's a network that anyone can run a server on and use for themselves. Takes banks and Government totally out of the equation.

Thats my best shot so far. Have yet to test it out.

Time to leave #London. Anyone know anywhere #bitcoin friendly?

#bitcoin These guys could use a leg up, no zaps needed just have a quick listen and share. Great band from Essex, UK. Show them a little love please

I’ve been trying to help nostr:npub1nevsewvjqhrsmpfcpdqw6v3e9f6z8w9sq0yt8kpndk2cumw8g6hs5mjmve. They have built a GUI program that lets you install an upgraded signet version of Bitcoin Core with BIP300. There are also a few sidechains like Thunder and a privacy focused zcash fork.

Paul Sztorc is currently building CUSF, which stands for Core-Untouched Soft Fork. It will allow miners and users to choose future soft forks in an organized manner.

The cypherpunk vision for Bitcoin is coming soon

So would be like a modular add on to the core everyone runs? Seems interesting if so. Everyone could have their own 'version' of bitcoin but be compliant at the base layer. Or have I totally got that wrong?!

I never understood the exchanging back into $€£. Once it's converted it's out of the system for good.

It's just occurred to me that by debasing the currency, Government are in fact making 'time' more expensive, that is to say, they are literally stealing your life.

Think what you could have done with that time.

Yes I am a slow learner.

#bitcoin

You need to think like a politician!

Buy bitcoin privately while denouncing it at the same time as skimming off the fiat system that you drive to zero while also putting your citizens in a century long poverty trap. Win-win!
