I get a steady supply when conditions are good. A few bigger flushes in there as well. I just eat as many of them as I can, it is easy for me to eat them at any meal. I do not worry about eating all of them, I like some to release spores into the local environment. I have sold some when I had a big flush

These are at my raw land, so no power for a dehydrator. I camp out there most of spring through fall while making improvements. I would like to build a solar dehydrator this year, many great ideas out there.

For your logs, you may get a few this fall, but expect to start getting them next year. A damp shaded spot that you see everyday is ideal for stacking logs. After a rain, a large flush can happen overnight. You have a day or two harvest window for the best mushrooms.

Camping spring through fall sounds pretty great.

A solar dehydrator. I’ll have to look that up. I made one once with just a large lightbulb and chicken wire shelves that worked pretty well. But needed power.

I don’t subscribe to that theory.

My theory is that 1 sat will equal 1 dollar by then and no one’s going to pay 200k to send a transaction.

I may add them to the mushroom garden. But I think I’ll wait to see how overwhelmed I am with the number of oyster and shiitakes I get.

Another question - you must get a huge flush a few times a year - what do you do with all the mushrooms? Do you have a dehydrator?

I am a strong supporter and look forward to a day when Iran belongs to the people again.

A food forest is a perennial garden modeled after a forest. Each plant filling a niche amongst the 7 forest layers. The food forest I have planted is 7 years old and the largest fruit trees are now starting to produce. I'm growing apples, peaches, plums and cherries. Below are hazelnut and elderberry. Then raspberry, gooseberry and currant. Below that, rhubarb, asparagus, horseradish, comfrey. Finally strawberry ground cover. I am growing hops and grapes trellised in nitrogen fixing black alder trees too. Everything is commingled in rows and in-between the rows of perennials I plant subsistence crops like potatoes, squash, and garlic while I can still get enough light before the canopy of the fruit trees close. There are more plants in there that play a more supplemental role like mulberry, black locust, cup plant, yarrow, and zizia. Hundreds of pounds of food come from the 1/10 acre area every year without watering. I weed/fertilize less each year and spend more time planting, harvesting and managing the existing plants. It's a low time preference way to grow a diverse and large amount of nutrition in a small space. Just takes years to establish.

Good morning nostr, i woke up from a deep sleep when i heard raindrops on the roof. For some reason, my first waking thought was that we forgot to put the baby chicks back in the shed with their heat lamp. Its interesting to me how the human brain works while we sleep. So this morning we'll be heading to church, then i'll start cleaning at the bnb cabin after the guest leaves. Typical Sunday for us. Also, i need to call the guy that sells those ibc totes for cheap, he was recommended by my friend yesterday. This part of the property was way overgrown with maples. I've thinned signicantly (not in this shot), building with some, firewood, and mushrooms. Some of the trees I cut down are growing back nicely. I should be able to have a regenerating supply for plugging mushrooms

The process is easy - just need to cut the proper tree for the type of mushrooms you are growing, still plug holes, insert plugs and cover with melted wax. Then put in wooded area away from direct sunlight and wait 6 months - 2 years depending on variety.

So, update pics will take a bit :-)
