Small meetups are underrated!
State Fair with the homies
OpenSats is looking for a bitcoiner to head the initiativeβs fiat operations. A truly paradoxical role.
Are you a bitcoiner who, for some strange reason, still loves the fiat world? Do you have a burning desire to participate in long email threads with bankers, talk for hours with lawyers, sign stuff with ink on paper, and put fiat-denominated numbers into all kinds of spreadsheets? Oh boy, do we have a job for you!

nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx you are truly a master salesman π
Won this from Ten31 co-founder Jonathan Kirkwood at the Minneapolis Bitcoin Meetup for answering Bitcoin trivia!
This feels like a joke π
Does anyone feel like they have any of these?
I see you as having 170+ followers... Weird
Bitcoin's price dip has lowered profitability of mining considerably, bringing even the most efficient miners down to mere pennies a day given typical commercial electricity costs. Yet we're looking at a 7+% difficulty increase. Not entirely sure why people are plugging in their miners, but this feels very bullish!
Wasn't sure if a time lapse while walking would be too shaky, but this turned out really cool! https://nostr.build/av/6758edfd4649b252fcfcac3fb68f383285c4ad54570ea7d836154cb596f500af.mov

Afternoon coffee, then back to building π
Plus you could connect them to redundant relays in case yours ever goes down
Is anyone looking into using Nostr for internet-of-things? What if you had smart home devices (lights, locks, safes, cameras, etc...) that each had their own Nostr keypair, knew your Nostr public key, and could receive commands and return data such as a message ack or even a picture from your smart camera using a wrapper around DMs? I think that could be really powerful for making smart devices that are actually secure.
Having a phone number is all but a necessity in today's world. Many internet services require you to have one for 2-step verification. Messaging apps such as Signal, Telegram, and WhatsApp require one as your account identifier. In many ways it's it's your centralized fiat personal identifier. Yet the level of security and privacy is laughable. Texts and calls are easily tapped and traced. Your location is viewable 24/7 by those "in charge". Not to mention how easy it is to perform a whole cornucopia of SIM attacks. This is legacy technology. And Nostr can fix it! Your keypair is your phone number for the 21 century. I'm excited to see an OAuth/OpenID-like spec for Nostr and for phone numbers to go the way of the dollar.
Thank you! π€
Want to see Bitcoin's price deflation in action? Check out this tool I made! It uses historical price data of Bitcoin and of common food and commodity items to graph the Bitcoin-denominated price over time.
Check the very bottom of the page and select an item and area.
Just pushed an update with your recommended changes!
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll do that this weekend!
Check out this Bitcoin dashboard I made: https://satda.sh/
(The graph section on the very bottom is broken, currently fixing it!)
