The arrest of individuals protesting against Israel is a grave act of Presidential overreach and a desire to clamp down on free association and speech. I know some of you loved Trump but it's not just about being pro-Crypto. It's not just about talking about "free speech" there is no difference between this and what the Dems were doing with DEI for the last 20 years. Choose liberty and call the bullshit on both sides.

I agree. I just don't think it's one size fits all. It's fine to have a non-custodial wallet for some, but it's wayyy easier for normies and new entrants to just use a custodial wallet for small payments. Obviously I would never recommend having a ton of money in a custodial service

I honestly can't keep up with how rapidly the Nostr ecosystem is growing. It's fucking mind-blowing. Wow. I was 10 -12 years old and lived in a developing country when the Internet was taking off in the 90s. I never understood what it meant until decades later. with Nostr and Bitcoin, I can now see and imagine that time so much better. Freedom Tech!

I don't know man. I've lived in religious societies and not sure I want any religion. That said, I think all religions have some value. Islam is often taken over by hard, militant features (and it makes sense cause some of the text encourages that) but it also has immeasurable benefits. Donation, community building, belief that if you have more money take care of those that don't etc.

However, when a society starts bringing in these religious values in to governance... I have a massive issue there.

I am pretty tech literate- self custody, run nodes, understand most of the high level stuff etc. There is no way I'm running non-custodial Lightning. The Primal wallet works fine and there has to be some trust abstraction at some point in this space.I just don't see why we would need to have a more complex setup to Zap a few hundred bucks in a year.

I mean as much as I despise that Ripple has tried to unseat Bitcoin and is actively lobbying against it, I almost don't give a fuck. America will ultimately do the right thing. Bitcoin will be fine. I don't want the US govt involved. I want plebs and retails to fucking buy every Sat there is.

We will change the world one note at a time.

This is my cousin - he lives in a developed country, has a Masters from a top university, studied History, is not dumb by any stretch. Yet, he falls in to the trap of "fixed pie" thesis and also just not ready to accept that Bitcoin IS actually fair and it started at issuance. Moments like these are frustrating, cause people like him understand that something is very wrong (politically and inflation) but decided to put his weight behind a political change rather than opting out.

1000%

I will never understand why Whitney gets the support from Bitcoiners to the extent that she does. I mean sure there are nefarious actors across the global financial-political lattice but to continually harp on how much asymmetric power THOSE actors have vs ignoring the pushback from a growing network of wealthy individuals to change the world is short termed thinking.

Kiki is my new favorite. This is a KILLER set. Don't get distracted and just listen to the music.

like you literally don't know what comes next! Great set.

nostr:npub1xr7t5h0l25ej73pm04zgz9afeexyzsjx67s5v0xxf2sshjn4sx6sep2gqh is one of the most based voices on the Internet. He's been consistent with his thoughts and hasn't flip flopped like a lot of "intellectuals" it's absolutely heartwarming to see him on Nostr.

We are going to win!

Does anyone else find it very challenging to convince some very well educated normies to understand Nostr or Bitcoin? Its pretty frustrating. My home country, that I don't live in anymore, suffers from extreme inflation and mismanagement of Finances. To add to that, the Military has a stronghold and does not like dissidents. They have cracked down on VPN usage and have created a category of Govt approved VPNs which citizens can use to access X. Realizing how maddening that is, I explained to a journlist that there are ways around this: learn Nostr, create a smaller community so at least information can't be blocked. Also, since you're a journalist, publish your content on Nostr and you may even get some Zaps.

2 months later. No movement.. nothing. Zilch. Every time I speak about this it's like they are deaf to it.

Frustrating and a little demotivating.

How much does the BTC price need to move for them to realize that they have a WAY to save themselves!!!

A question for nostr:npub1k7vkcxp7qdkly7qzj3dcpw7u3v9lt9cmvcs6s6ln26wrxggh7p7su3c04l or nostr:npub1a2cww4kn9wqte4ry70vyfwqyqvpswksna27rtxd8vty6c74era8sdcw83a

M2 has historically been a good predictor of inflation, or debasement. Does it always have to be that way though? What if the money/currency equivalents never enter the economy and say, stay on bank balance sheets?

So thought I'd throw this out there- any Cricket fans on Nostr?

Apart from my wife, I have no bitcoiners in meatspace to relate this to, so I’m just gonna leave this here. No one will probably read it, but I just want to get this off my chest. Who knows, maybe it will do some good and inspire someone.

I think one of the most underestimated aspects of bitcoin is how it secretly spills over into other parts of your life. Yes, bitcoin is money in the digital age, yes, it’s a finite black hole that will absorb other asset classes, yes, inflation is theft, yes, it can make a median income earner a massive millionaire when done right. But the most underrated aspect in my eyes, and this is propagated by fellas like nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx and nostr:npub1rtlqca8r6auyaw5n5h3l5422dm4sry5dzfee4696fqe8s6qgudks7djtfs, is it made me realize how insanely valuable my time is.

When this realization occurred, I made it my number one priority to optimize for my time. So while working the fiat mines for the better part of the last decade, every time I earned a promotion or got a better job, my aim was not to earn more, but spend less time earning the same.

Yes, I could have spent more time in the mines and easily earned 2x of what I did, bought more of the coin with said earnings and be a rich fella with a much bigger car and a much bigger house by now, but you know what? Fuck that!

In stead, I got to be there for my parents, my wife and my kids, take care of them, watch them grow, do volunteer work in the local community, and pursue my hobbies, all while showing the kids that it’s OK to work for a living and contribute to society, and that it’s not normal to get retirement-rich off some crazy bet in your younger years.

Understanding the value of my time, thanks to studying bitcoin, was a life altering moment for me, and I am forever grateful for this realization. No amount of money, bitcoin or otherwise, is worth this lesson learned and the life and experiences it provided.

Who knows, with this in mind, you can look yourself in the mirror and ask yourself the extremely confrontational question: what am I doing with my time?!

Oh man. I'm in the same boat. Have a very good job with a Fortune 50 company, and workload is pretty decent. I get to work from home and collect a very good salary. I am now at crossroads: move back to a city, where the company HQ is, pay a shit ton more on rent and food, and try and move up, or do I just spend more amazing time with my two kids under 5 by watching them grow and being a dad that's present and continue stacking sats. I obviously hope that I can one day retire on those sats. It's the fact that I feel like I have an OPTION to not just be in a rat race for more money that gives me some mental freedom.

One day, I hope to quit the job when Bitcoin goes where I hope it does, pick up something I truly care about, help people, and live free!

I think you made the right choice in your life :)

But that's about it right? Only issue is the top of the funnel. Person could buy it but eventually they don't know what happened to it? Person could have lost the coin, maybe it was stolen? There is some plausible deniability, do I have that right?
