Thiers/Gresham always seem to be misstated. What are these scenarios? Gresham applies in the presence of currency controls (equivalences) and Thiers applies in the absence of them. Under currency controls people will hoard the overvalued money in the false equivalence.

It's also an excellent way to convince people that you are a clown. Generally the reason people who aren't clowns don't do this is because they actually understand both and the reputational tradeoff. The smug assumption that you are teaching everyone a lesson just makes it worse.
