Exactly, just a phase! :) Their sleeping habits evolve so fast in the first few months it’s incredible.

You will never understand

Don’t think i’ve ever been so immersed in a book as when I read Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone as a child. The story was unfolding so vividly in my mind I lost complete track of time and barely noticed my surroundings.

Peace requires strength, reason and imagination. It is, in many ways, proof of work. Violence, on the other hand, is something we are all capable of. But violence holds no virtues in itself.

“I am not unmindful of the fact that violence often brings about momentary results. Nations have frequently won their independence in battle. But in spite of temporary victories, violence never brings permanent peace. It solves no social problem: it merely creates new and more complicated ones. Violence is impractical because it is a descending spiral ending in destruction for all. It is immoral because it seeks to humiliate the opponent rather than win his understanding: it seeks to annihilate rather than convert. Violence is immoral because it thrives on hatred rather than love. It destroys community and makes brotherhood impossible. It leaves society in monologue rather than dialogue. Violence ends up defeating itself.” - MLK

Facebook and twitter are more similar to eachother than to #nostr so i’d argue there are different incentives at play! But we’ll see 😄🤙

On the #nostr you can post just about anything you like.

I’ve been here for a year now, and rarely see anything cruel or hateful.

Checked in on X today, and every other post contains violence or polarization between groups. It is not a free market place for discourse, but an algo meant to maximize online engagement.

The minister of education in Norway wants all 19-year-olds to serve a compulsory year for Norway. Basically forcing them to work for the state.

«This is also about community, and that - absolutely everyone - must serve their duty before they claim their right. We know that there is a great need for labor in our society. Everyone must contribute to the community. We run out of people before we run out of resources, says Nordtun»

I don’t know how to put into words how deeply disturbing this is. The state of things are changing fast.
