Was he jumping in front of imaginary projectiles or trying to start a wave?

I’m quite enjoying it :) I love that even though it’s gone through various editions each decade, they left in some of the dated concepts. Like right now I’m reading about negative feedback, and it discussed how computers cannot yet play chess as well as a human or grandmaster, and it made me chuckle. Fun to see time bottled away in the form of text.

Perhaps, like you I’m not sure of his motives, but he does seem (from the few interviews I’ve watched him be the subject of or the conductor of) to try to focus on the work and minimize the distractions from it.
