I have never seen a hurricane track from West to East over the Gulf.
This is the first time in my life. here in Florida they teach elementary schoolers that hurricanes get started off the coast of Africa.

For anybody not familiar with Tampa Bay these models show either a catastrophic flood event or a negative surge event.
A negative surge Essentially what happens when a storm system lands south of Tampa it actually drains the water from Tampa Bay. So much so that you can actually find photos of people walking out in the middle of it. If it lands directly or just north this surge poos up and has nowhere to go.
I have lived in the area off and on for the past 35 years. I have never seen it flood like it did with Helene.
lot of people here are scared. The hotels that we usually evac to are booked up.
And off I honestly haven't finished cleaning up on his first go around.
It's probably going to take a year or so to get back to normal after this season.
This one has a potential to make a huge mess for Tampa Bay.
Everybody still has all their debris out on the curb.
