Boris Kagarlitsky speaks direct from jail: ‘The freeing of Russia’s political prisoners has to be part of any Trump-Putin deal’

There is an English saying: no justice, no peace. This is very important to remember when we are now discussing the conditions for a peace agreement or at least a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. Because you should not forget, there are thousands, literally thousands of political prisoners in Russia. People, most of whom are imprisoned just because of their opposition to the war. And the release of these prisoners should be a part of the peace deal, part of the ceasefire deal should be a part of any agreement, any negotiations, should be a part of any conclusion of the conflict.

This is not just an issue for us, those who are behind the bars, those who are imprisoned. It is an issue for Russia for the future of the country and the future of Europe. This is something not to be forgotten.

Yuck?

I have mixed feelings about the picture, mostly bad (1 good, 3 bads).

This article seems to me to be a good analysis of the current situation of Bitcoin.

"Three main forces driving the market down could push it still lower before it regains footing and starts to climb back. In fact, the industry may need to wait until 2026 before it sees sustained bullish momentum again."

Full Meeting between President Trump, VP Vance and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy in Oval Office

Beyond the debates over decorum and protocol—such as a journalist questioning Zelensky’s attire or his boldness in responding to President Trump and the vice president—the real issue was the lack of security guarantees. While Ukrainians needed a solid peace agreement, Trump relied on a simple ceasefire based on his trust in Putin. This gap ultimately prevented a deal.

(ChatGPT)

In Québec we have nothing of these programs and at least three hospitals have been convinced of systemic racism. The government will not recognize it however. I'm pretty sure the victims (First Nations patients, black nurses in training) would have appreciated to benefit of it.

"The big picture: It's not yet clear how many military vets have been fired, or will be. Last year veterans made up 28% of the federal workforce, per federal data, a far bigger share than the 5% in the private sector.

About 36% of the vets working in civil service, more than 200,000 in total, are disabled or have a serious health condition, per federal data.

"This is the largest attack on veteran employment in our lifetime," said William Attig, the executive director of the Union Veterans Council, a labor group that represents many of these workers." (Axios)

Turkey: Support TikTok Workers

The Canadian technology company Telus provides services to TikTok and other major corporations in its operations in Turkey.

But their workers are suffering from low wages and psychologically exhausting working conditions. Performance targets are constantly rising, there is no job security, and arbitrary dismissals are taking place.

Telus workers have unionised to demand a collective bargaining agreement. In response, the company started firing union representatives and changed its legal status to hinder union activities.

Workers, who are now on the picket line in front of the Telus office in Izmir, are demanding better working conditions, recognition of their union rights, and the reinstatement of their colleagues who were dismissed.
