Today marks the 113th birtday of Titanics departure to her maiden voyage.
#OtD 1912, afternoon.
Local florist Frank Bealing, accompanied by his son Frank Jr. and their foreman W.F. 'Bill' Geapin, delivered an abundance of flowers to the #Titanic. The Bealings had the contract to supply all floral arrangements for White Star liners calling in Southampton. They brought hundreds of potted plants, large and small. Some were put in cold storage, to be brought out later during the crossing. Habitually more flowers were brought aboard ships which interiors had recieved fresh paint.

#OtD 1912 Second Officer Blair took the time to bring his sister aboard the ship for a tour that would take them several hours due to the size of the #Titanic . Even at this late stage, carpets were still being laid and decorators were hard at work trying to finish up the last few details.

#otd 1912 Board of Trade Emigration Officer Maurice Clarke boarded the #titanic. Clarke cleared the ship to depart the following day by making sure she adhered to all safety regulations.
First Officer Lightoller later recalled that he certainly lived up to his reputation being the best cursed B.O.T. representative in the south of England at that time.

#otd 1912 around 10:00 #titanic departed for sea trials, which would take up most of the day. Titanic returned to Belfast later that evening only to begin her voyage to Southampton shortly after that same day.
