When women express trust, safety, and censorship issues on line we generally get a range of replies from “you’re not important enough for that to be happening,” to “well maybe you should tone it down.” The thing is that kind of gaslighting would be effective it hadn’t already happened to so many of us on other platforms.
The road to censorship is lined wirh people who think it can’t possibly be happening or someone isn’t possibly important enough for the efforts to be exrted. Except why are people from twitter migrating here and experiencing the same issues?

There is a certain flavour of meanness I have become accustomed to from Zionists and it hard to describe the taste— like a pointed, bitter, entitled, victim-blaming ferocity that I can now recognize anywhere.

Sometimes it will be people who were really nice to you at the beginning, want you to trust them, then suddenly partake in bullying or rude comments. Block them. This is just social media. I want to share some unpleasantness that has penetrated #mastodon and I recognize it well from twitter. It is not just the shadowbanning. There are real organized efforts to have people targeted and bullied off this platform. It starts with censorship and then it ends in people suggesting people self-harm. I have seen it time and time again, I have been the target of it. They will start with the most outspoken users, usually #women. Big accounts will unwittingly join in.
