The rain in Spain falls mainly in southern California.

The weekend was spent not so much building (tho I did play around w a python project), but building my knowledge & understanding of (1) the Fed's history and the Mandrake Mechanism (reading "the creature form jekyll island".) and (2) watching the live streams from #Nostrica.

Takeaways from the stages:

- microapps are where I want to be, what I wanna develop... for myself ;)

- #[0] is one humble, smart, and persistent dude, and iris.to is a great client on my desktop

- I need to spend some time investigating the LNBits marketplace, esp the drop dead simple relay creation

Looking forward to today's sessions.

Here in Rainland, another busy day of fiat balderdash. Gotta find ways to comfort and assist the teams (timezones away) that are too busy and beaten to breathe. Develop my class to break outta my shackles. Help the kiddo have a fruitful & productive spring vacation. (Wishing we were in Uvita!)

Building of a different nature. Have been focused on (a) FT fiat job, (b) building a new course on product stewardship, and (c) preparing a presentation to a local chapter to educate plebs of paths toward sovereignty of their own careers.

If you’re following my morning pv notes, you’ve read my exploits building out my home network of lans/vlans, firewall, nodes, tunnels, a bunch of OS fun, and soon (hopefully) a relay or two. Revisiting languages and learning new tech has been a dream come true - literally.

This passion and promise of constructing my network sovereignty fills my soul in places I’d forgotten about, giving me purpose and direction.

This fiat job of mine will hold less domain over me tomorrow than it does today; less demand of my most precious resource next year than it does now in March of 2023 when my spirit cries to be in Uvita.

PV to all the dreamers, dancers, builders and co-conspirators at #nostrica. Make the most of this opportunity to remake the tribal nerve system that once flowed among all earthlings.

It was three years ago this day, a Friday, the 13th of March. Auspicious. We were on day two of our un conference in San Diego, and many participants decided to stay home.

Gallows humor was strong among those of us who stayed through the end. I was ringing a cowbell to signify start times… reminiscent of “bring out your dead”.

I recall the news saying that NBA games were cancelled and folks were talking work from home as a forgone conclusion.

That was the start of my own journey of discovery, though I did not recognize it as such three years ago. Happy to be here now, however. Building.

Another great day for building.

__ Raised bed planter:

Yesterday despite the perpetual mistiness, I’d measured and cut all my lumber. Six 2x4s, two 2x6s, and three 2x12s into a total of 24 useable pieces for this project (and a bit of scrap).

This morning was marking (with my jib) and drilling four holes on each of twelve 2x4s. Next we’re gonna screw together the four walls of the frame.

I’ll finish the assembly in the upcoming days.

__ Dinner presentation at local PMI:

Had to provide mugshot and title of May’s event. Currently thinking of “future-proof your business: the power of collaborative, high-performing teams”, or something along those lines.

Will sketch more of the outline today/tomorrow for this week’s check-in.

__ Product Mgr class:

Under the gun to get the course designed this week. Need to review it with colleague prior to submitting. I have an outline and some random exercises and slides, but need to turn up the urgency and focus.

All in all, it’s looking like another busy week (with a time change layered on it). I’ve also got the fiat job to attend to, plus a few social commitments. And we cannot forget Nostrica at the end of the week. You know I’m gonna get tempted to develop ‘something’ before next weekend’s palooza 😜

It’s a great day to bring back balance.

Lots o rain as of late, so there’s so so much to clean up, turn over or clear away in the yard.

Does the previous sentence contain the appropriate number of commas?

Need to be outside. Spent the passed few days locked to my desk. Gotta walk today and spend hours in the garden. BBB ✊🏼

Audible books, podcasts this weekend (specifically Lyn Alden’s recent interviews and paper), with fewer videos that tie my to a screen. Plenty of musical interludes.

Taking a break from the Lightning build out. Gonna call in the big guns at some time, but for now need to focus instead on building out my 2-day class for product peeps.

So excited for the many opportunities and rabbit holes opened up over the past decade. I feel so late to the game, but extremely grateful to have stumbled into this amazing community.

At some point before too long, I hope to be more vocal and collaborative. I’m probably best suited as an educator and evangelist for a specific audience of noobs of a certain age.

The future is unstoppable and infinite.

Spent a couple hours last night retracing steps and uninstalling LiT and RTL. Reinstalled RTL. Still wasn’t seeing the alias listed. Went to bed feeling un accomplished - sads

In other news… Signed up a few weeks ago for Nostrica, but couldn’t swing the trip. Elected for online attendance (free tix still available). Feeling big fomo which will become more intense in the 2-week build up. Hoping that there’s good engagement for us plebs online, though not seeing too much in the un-conference agenda yet.

Goal is to get all my Lightning ⚡️ bolted down, funded and zapping through the atmosphere long before Mar 19. Maybe progress on a relay idea … excited.

Busy morn w work (the fiat job), but now have a window to do the fun stuff. (the REAL work).

Given that I'm setting up my Lightning environ myself (with help from K3tan's excellent vidz),

When I log on to my RTL UI,

Then I expect to see my Alias appear in the Welcome message.

Problem is: the Alias doesn't show up. It's a scramble of digits. I _do_ see it listed under Application Options (Node Config > LND Config), but I want it to show where it belongs so it passes my warm&fuzzy test, giving me the confidence to move on to the LiT config issues I have. (alas...)

So I'm looking at the typescript src to see where the GetInfo gets this info.

I'll follow the code for another 40 minutes or so until my next fiat team meeting.

Another rainy night/day in Southern California. Feels like we’ve had more wet days than dry so far this year. S’all okay; the roof only leaks in one spot.

😂😭

Still prepping my taxes for the annual reckoning, but you know I’ll be pulled back to tinker with getting my Lightning Terminal instance up and tight.

Sure, I coulda gone an easier route with Umbrel or Start9, but I wouldn’t learn as much (one-off my favorite rabbit holes these days) and I’d ultimately lack some sovereignty over my citadel.

Stay dry, be well, build stuff.

Past few days of building the citadel from scratch have been humbling, frustrating.

So many other aspects of the build had been smooth, almost without friction. The Bitcoin node, Fulcrum server, mempool, Sparrow and other wallets - all went without a hitch.

Something about Lighting though keeps tripping me up. LND config took a couple tries. I’m not 100% getting the warm&fuzzies from RTL (Alia’s doesn’t display), and LiT is just not getting off the ground.

I’m learning a ton, but I’m at a standstill without a clue as to what’s wrong. Such a buzzkill.

Plus, ugghh, with all our recent rain, I’ve found a couple roof leaks.
