I've run an AR pattern rifle dry plenty, especially in winter. it accelerates wear but the rifle works fine if it's made to spec. lots of rifles are not, and that's where the real problems come in. it's the same deal with 1911s, the fundamental design is sound and then third parties come in and start changing shit and it gets a reputation for being unreliable or finicky
in general three drops of CLP every so often and keeping the dust cover closed is sufficient to keep an AR running, in my experience. and I mean I've literally never had a failure that wasn't related to either bad ammo, or a bad magazine
given the retarded white glove standard the military has I can see people doing that, but I've never seen it done
quite a bit of damage is done to military weapons over time because of arms rooms fags wanting every molecule of dirt and carbon to be removed. it's not like anyone is giving private snuffy a parts washer or an ultrasonic cleaner, so he just uses whatever makeshift crap he can get

I think it's likely people are putting way too much oil in their guns, which attracts shit, which gums up the rifle
I've never found that to be a real problem
the A2 flash hider is fantastic with mil spec ammo
also doesn't kick up dust when you're firing in the prone like a lot of radially symmetrical designs
that can be literally impossible depending on the build
getting an elite on wave 11 or 12 is such trash. I've had a bunch of runs that had fantastic foundations, that would've been very strong by the end, die right there
