I've been playing this game that only came out about 3 months ago called Corn Kidz 64. It's a retro styled platformer game inspired by Super Mario 64 and other titles from that era. It's extremely impressive at capturing the aesthetic of that time and the way the game feels mimics the era as well.
Graphical and display settings are low res with a 4:3 aspect ratio by default. The game is locked at 30 FPS so naturally I assume a lot of the game was designed with this in mind. The movement has weight meaning you can't turn on a dime. You'll need to be deliberate or at least used to playing these kinds of weighty games with 30 FPS.
As for the platforming it's actually quite forgiving since the game will magnetize you on to pipes, bubbles, bird-bombs, enemies, and other things. Combat is pretty simple for the most part with only one enemy requiring the player to do a bit more than just spamming the action button. Yes the game can feel a little "janky" at times but I believe it's completely on purpose. The camera also works similarly to Super Mario 64.
But I just gotta say this, the game's Steam page has an indicator I've probably never seen on a new game before. A controller is REQUIRED to play the game! Keyboard and mouse is not supported! Holly molly, that's a bold choice for a PC game! It's a good thing you can play it with a wide range of controllers, including the original N64 controller.
As far as I know the game is only on PC. As of right now, it's sort of a pseudo handheld gaming PC exclusive. Perhaps maybe it's more accurate to call it a Steam exclusive? Thinking about former is a little bonkers to me. Of course I want people who only own consoles to play this too, but as of right now I would point to this title as a must play "exclusive." A title that you should absolutely buy a handheld gaming PC to play.
Now I'm surprised I hadn't encountered the game earlier. Then again, it wouldn't have been possible. I was on a trip to California around the release time so it's not like I was looking for new games to play. Well, my attention has been set on playing a lot of retro games I already own. So there's that for ya... But in any case, I really feel like this game is going to be indie game of 2023 or maybe even indie game of 2024. This reminds me a lot of Pizza Tower. Pizza Tower has that retro 90's MS Paint vibe and if I recall correctly, some of its design was taken from some old Wario games. Regardless, I can see Corn Kidz 64 taking off on YouTube and becoming more mainstream within this year if not a few months.

thanks for your opinion bro, don't give a fuck 👍 https://v.nostr.build/464W.mp4
Oh my goodness, Jack! The fact that you're getting all of these opportunities to be interviewed on live TV about Bitcoin is insane! :O
It's crazy that the last time I posted something on nostr was 3 weeks ago and it wasn't because I couldn't. It really goes to show that this platform isn't addicting. 0_0
I switched it back to not automatically update the home page with new notes. The performance is better now. Just gotta refresh the page if I want to see new notes. Since the cosmetic differences between Snort and Primal are minimal I think I'll use my own instance of Snort for a while. Right so enough about Snort...
I was trying out ToonTown Corporate Clash on my Linux PC and it was running fine for quite a while. They recently pushed out an update to the launcher and now Proton can't run it. It's strange because I kept the old installation exe and it still runs the launcher just fine.
I have no idea what the Corporate Clash devs did but whatever it was makes the game crash through Proton. I've tested it on the latest version of Proton-GE as well. I haven't exactly went through all the versions of Proton but I assume those aren't going to help. Seems like they've done something specific that would need require an update to Proton to accommodate. Hopefully it wasn't a thing that they did on purpose.
Ya Snort is having trouble fetching trending notes. That and when I switch over to the main page with the latest global notes, it tends to perform a little poorly. I have it set to automatically update the page with new notes. Hm...
Trying out Snort on my node. Dang, this is looking nice. Not as nice as Primal in my opinion but I think it's definitely an improvement.
I apparently got some sats on Christmas eve via keysend. Not a whole lot but it was super awesome to see such a kind gesture. 😁
Cheers, Cyborg. Cheers.
As an AI, I'm not allowed to make a comment on such things. XD
Alright here we go, another Doctor Who note. So I finished watching the new Christmas Special, The Church on Ruby Road. I have a lot of mixed feelings on the episode. I obviously like it. I was afraid I would find the musical bit would make me cringe a little but I actually found it quite fun! I might like this episode better in retrospect and in context to the rest of the season. That is to say, the episode's already in a comfortable position in regards to how I feel about it.
Though, I feel like the episode was Doctor Who lite despite the fact that this is certainly not Doctor Who lite. There's something to unpack there. I'm not sure where to begin. I'll have to sit with this one longer. Maybe I was a little too prepared for the show's new direction. If that's even a thing...
Let's talk about some of the elements that grabbed by attention. I'm intrigued at the Wild Blue Yonder mavity reference. Apparently it's a running gag now, though it could be more than that. Because I think this is just how Russell is approaching time travel in his second era. I feel like the bigeneration from The Giggle, the mythical direction of the show, and the mystery of Mrs. Flood from this new episode could be signs pointing towards some changes with how things work in the Doctor Who universe.
I dunno, my creative idea regarding the mystery behind Mrs. Flood is that she's seen a TARDIS and the Doctor before but not the Doctor as we've always known. The idea is that she's seen a different bigeneration of the Doctor from perhaps a different timestream. RTD has stated that his headcanon of previous regenerations has every Doctor bigenerating in different versions of his timestream.
If he's bringing this into the canon of the show, I think it could be quite fresh. It could bring about a multiverse which has been a concept that has been used or mentioned sparingly. I'd find it fantastic if Mrs. Flood was connected to this. Though of course, I think I'm certainly wrong since I'm not exactly thinking things through. Fun idea though!
I've been playing a bit of DC Universe Online again and I've been enjoying it. 😁
Wow, just got done watching Doctor Who 60th Anniversary finale, The Giggle! Man, what a way to end the anniversary. There's quite a bit of cheese in the episode but I think the way it ended was perfect. It absolutely changes the cannon of the show and I think it's for the better. Though I will say, the way it ended is not exactly novel. Regardless it feels fresh and exciting! I definitely like this new direction and I love episode overall. I don't know where I'll rank it versus previous episodes of Doctor Who but I definitely like it a lot. Jeez I feel like this episode opened a new door of potential for the show and what stories can be told. The more I think about it, the happier I am with the canon altering decision that was made. 👍 😃
Thanks for notifying me! I'm so excited for the ever shrinking rewards! :D
Hmm... Well this is confusing. No I didn't actually use compressed air for the trackpad issue. I actually used what is functionally similar to a hair dryer. This time I used real compressed air and it actually worked. So if it happens again I'm going to assume that there's something underneath the trackpad that's stuck in there. Unless it really is something else... :/
Alright, nope... Apparently I'm still having problems with my right trackpad. Guess there's something else going on.
Man I'm such an idiot. I own a Steam Deck and my right trackpad's pressure sensitivity was messed up. Inputs were firing just from light taps. I found a way to fix it through the software but I knew something was up with the hardware. So I found a comment that said it could be due to dirt underneath it. So waddya know, I blew some air around it and it's all back to normal. I was a little worried considering I plan to give my LCD model to someone after I get the new OLED. I was worried for no reason at all. XD
Watched the new Doctor Who episode Wild Blue Yonder. The show is certainly back to form in this episode. I definitely feel like this one is paying homage to Midnight. It's not as scary or as good as Midnight but I liked it. It makes sense that RTD would write an episode that celebrates one of his most beloved episodes. In some way, it's a sequel or spiritual successor. Does it work for new viewers though? I'm not quite sold that... Maybe?
I just watched the new Doctor Who episode The Star Beast and I have to say that I absolutely loved it! Only problem I had wasn't with the episode but it was how and who I watched it with. It was really awkward watching it with my Uncle to be honest... That and we had to turn the volume down low because my grandparents were sleeping. So there was a lot of dialogue that I missed.
Regardless I thought the episode was absolutely fantastic. It felt like a movie and it definitely feels inviting for newbies. I found the political aspect very on the nose and bold. I thought the way the episode resolved was fun and it's overall one of the best episodes of Doctor Who I've ever seen. From initial impressions I'm going to give the Star Beast a 8 or 9 out of 10. I'm quite excited for the new two, the upcoming Christmas special, and the season next year. 👍
The new Doctor Who episode has aired on Disney+ and I haven't watched it yet! I've had the new TARDIS console spoiled for me thanks to YouTube but I quickly closed my app before I saw too much. I have family still visiting so I'm just waiting for people to settle down and disperse before I watch it. Maybe I'll just watch it myself and then rewatch it. 🤔
