i used to be in a city / county with revenue based taxes ( not profit) on businesses. these fuckibg idiots man i cant believe the audacity to try that at thay jurisdictional level. i moved my mainly internet based business to a few feet over the line, save thousands a year. feel bad for the brick and mortars that cant leave, though the flight from that jurisdiction has been significant

im sure if a major crimes unit wanted to tap into my phone or figure out my ID they still can but my setup compared to say an apple phone with sim card sub... the privacy difference is immense and we cant let perfect be the enemy of better. i bought the phone with cash and have never done anything to identify my real life identity with it. one funny benefit of a phone# without id is i never, ever get spam calls anymore. so much to the point that i was unsure it was working for a while. i point to that as a relative privacy gain.

i try and stay wifi only, but have a jmp.chat # and silent.link esim for times i need to be available off wifi ( which isnt too often). this setup has,worked better than i imagined. one of the,best benefits,has been using an esim for,data, as the payment is for the,data,and not time,constrained with use. so, i am encouraged to only use data when i need to, and have eliminated the,redundancy of at home,internet + cell sub with internet l. i only use,one,or the,other now.

there is a scene in boardwalk empire i remember to this day where the income tax was a recently enacted scheme in the time of the show ( prohibition era ) and in the show the main char is talking to the then Treasury Secretary that referred to it as the biggest fucking scam ever pulled on the american people. i was a liberal at the time when i saw it so was thrown aback by such a claim but it struck me then...i think its one of the things that stuck with me enoigh and kept my mind open a crack til bitcoin flooded in years later.

this is the reason i believe self employment isnt remotely encouraged by public institutions excelt anecdotally. corpos get the employees, govos get the maximum amt of tax dollars upfront before the suckers get paid, only to have to complete their annual beg for refund form each year ( almost certainly via paid software).
