The Clean Cut Blade: My Most Extreme Contemporary Noise Album

The Clean Cut Blade is my most extreme contemporary noise album that I've created. It was a conscious decision made at the peak of my popularity in the traditional heavy music scene. As a band, we mostly created linear songs, and I always felt there were more ways to express my artistic views, feelings, and deep emotions. I felt confined within a formula I wanted to break, and this album was the direct effect of working with different mediums, machines, instruments, software, and hardware devices.

At one point, my gear was running non-stop for a week. I took short breaks to sleep and rest a little, and would wake up to tweak a little more. The entire session was recorded continuously for a week. I reached the edge of my mental capabilities and decided it was enough. The material then awaited an editing session, which was a unique and challenging process. Unsure of how to approach it, I asked a friend for some movie recommendations to inspire me. He sent me some amazing old black-and-white Japanese samurai movies.

I watched these movies multiple times, muting their audio and playing my recordings underneath. This process inspired me to cut the recordings into pieces and get titles for the songs. The movies had a direct impact on the final album. Eventually, I decided to publish the album to see how far I could take my artistic freedom while still being treated seriously as an artist.

I posted the album on archive.org as a great experiment. As expected, both public fans and media were not ready for it at all. Many people thought it was garbage or that I was making fun of them, but it was a serious and deeply personal work. It remains my most underappreciated work, with no serious reviews to this day. Despite this, I still love it and am excited to share it on a new platform today.

Important Note: For everyone who wants to listen to this, please be very conservative with the level of sound as you operate through the album. The levels here are very surprising, and the sound is very extreme. If you put your gear at full volume, it might harm your speakers. Please be careful as it is an extreme audio work.

New music with #MTvoid being created is a great thing and dope feeling. Me and Justin seem to be picking up pace. Tool is going on Europe Tour and when they're done this thing will be finished.
