Listening to statements from Arab leaders, you feel you are listening to a meeting of Scandinavian countries ran by professors of Kantian morality, Lockean rights, and Feuerbachean humanism, and not, as it is, statesmen of some of the least democratic and most abusive states in the world. The prisons of some of these "common humanity" leaders are pits of endless human misery and suffering. Many would rather watch the Palestinians die violently than taking one Palestinian refugee. Others led international campaign to normalize the butcher of Syria after had had barrel bombed his own people.
I'm not exactly certain whom are they renting to convince for both their own people and Western observers know better. No sane or normal person, no matter how ill informed, takes them seriously when they start talking of "humanism."
