Open unclaimed space -> positive-sum growth -> opportunity & hope & innovation
I think American patriotism can be revived by radical technological progress and an expansion into free and open digital frontiers

One of the beautiful parts of pre-platform internet was the thrill of the hunt, and payoff, of finding deep-buried files, obscure esoteric texts, and just generally weird Easter eggs everywhere
Wandering into some super niche forum, and digging into some sub-niche of that, and stumbling into a years-long bitter flame war between two insane brilliant pseudonymous subject matter experts
One time when I was like thirteen I downloaded a bootleg remix of a Biggie Smalls track on Kazaa, lost it, and was NEVER able to find it again
I miss that internet
Whyβs interesting is that previous βpro free-speechβ platforms (Gab, Parler etc) were completely captured by people who just went there to say the naughty stuff that got you banned on Twitter
AND then ironically couldnβt even support free speech due being centrally owned and controlled
Nostr on the other hand is both an *actual* protocol for free speech, *and* has managed to avoid being culturally dominated by people who want to exploit that freedom performatively. At least, so far.
Yeah thatβs the essential problem (people buying their version of truth).
Maybe an ideal UI would actually signal that i.e that there are competing, highly upvoted / zapped answers to the same controversial question
Oh hell yeah, gonna get set up on lntips now
Idea: Wikipedia but on nostr/lightning
Editors put skin in the game by posting a fee upfront, but are rewarded with zaps
Thanks to whoever sent the 1000 sats!
Will pay it forward π«‘
Again, canβt get over how crazy this is. Feels like hyperbitcoinization
Amazing the show has coasted off that early product for 20+ years
