Sure thing, the main issue I have is that a portion of the population are hardcore Bitcoin maximalist cultists, and they drive me nuts because if you use anything other than Bitcoin or if you express legitimate issues that keep you from buying Bitcoin (or any coin for that matter), you tend to get attacked for your opinions. It's why I haven't been using Nostr much for a few months until this issue cropped up.

Sounds an awful lot like excuses and apologetics for a disgusting and objectively harmful industry.

It's better than just letting it run free and be all like "now don't do this, it's a bad idea".

I received a solid amount of new followers due to my recent posts condemning porn. First of all, thanks, I appreciate it and I'm glad to see so many have their heads on straight!

However, I can't seem to get the full list of followers, it won't let me expand it. If you followed me because of those posts and I haven't followed back, please let me know and I'll correct it ASAP.

Let's keep the crusade going! 🫡

There are studies that prove that porn has a negative impact on individuals' brains, just like hard drugs. Literally destroys the brain. Anyone who produces porn is complicit in that and should be jailed, period. It enslaves men like a drug and ensnares young women to objectify themselves for easy money.

That's without mentioning the fact that a LOT of porn stars are victims of human trafficking.

The only people defending porn are addicts, gooners and pedos. Not the sort of people whose opinions we should care about.

Removed and warned via email, saying I violated their "don't be a jerk" rule 🤷‍♂️

Looks like I'll be spending more time on Nostr, I'm fed up with the Fediverse. I had a post of mine removed for calmly and civilly refuting the bogus claim that the Fediverse's leftist population is somehow a diaspora caused by Christians causing "trauma" to certain groups.

I was pretty okay with my instance admin, he always seemed to be pretty relaxed and only moderate when content was genuinely against the rules, but if I'm going to be censored for choosing to argue against such a BS claim (which just further proved correct my original post about the Fediverse being full of hateful, left-leaning phonies), I don't want any part of that.

Frankly, I had been feeling that way for quite a while but that post removal was the last straw. I have my issues with a portion of Nostr's userbase as well, but at least here, I'm not surrounded by people ready to swarm me for not going along with the acceptable narrative on a platform (Mastodon) run by a guy who thinks less thought policing is a BAD thing.

If you know me, you know I'm an AI skeptic, so this says a lot: I started trying Venice AI and I REALLY like it.

Previously, I only used Brave's Leo and the search engine summarizer as occasional augmentative tools. I still use those for information purposes.

However, Venice also offers image generation, and very solid image generation at that. While I don't ever plan to subscribe to any AI service -- ever -- I will say that I could see myself making use of Venice more often.

A huge part of why I enjoy Venice is because of how it's more privacy-friendly and less censorship-heavy than big tech AI services. It feels like this is how the technology SHOULD have been implemented.

Never heard of these. How tough are they to set up and run/maintain? May be less than $100 but time is money as well. Might be an option if they don't take too much time to get going, but I'm curious if there's a catch (as other methods have had).

😂 Real talk though, I don't intend to complain about everything, I just don't like how vapid a lot of conversations can be on Nostr. GMs, PVs and absolutely nothing that actually seeks to solve the issues our civilization is facing.

I know everything is perfect in Bitcoin world but believe it or not, there ARE things that can improve and they won't if nobody presents feedback and constructive criticism.

Well, if I'm being honest, I *am* jaded. I tried for the majority of 2024 to find a method that works for me but I'm not kidding when I say I tried literally every suggestion and none of them worked.

It's not defeatism, it's just my experience. What bugs me is that I've genuinely had people flip out at me and even unfollow me simply because I made a post expressing how it had all become a waste of time for me, and how constant failure after trying every suggestion had led me to complete discouragement.

What I *can* say, is that I agree 100% with you on KYC. It's just that unless you're willing to drive those 3 hours on the off chance of finding someone that is willing to trade (a length not everyone has the time or energy to go to), you really don't have many options. I don't have the money to afford building a mining rig. Any nearby ATMs are extortionists (no joke, the only ones in a several hour radius charge ~20%).

Unless I'm convinced it'll actually be worth the time and effort, especially given my lack of long-distance transportation, it certainly isn't something I'm going to "try harder" on. I've has enough disappointments trying to get in this space as it is. I do like the tech and I believe it has something that can help fix several major economic issues but I'm not a maxi cultist. I don't think it solved EVERYTHING. I also don't think it's perfect, either, with significant issues that would keep me from wanting to go BTC-only (I mean, the privacy concerns alone are enough reasoning to use altcoins like Monero for regular transactions).

Unless the goons in the government significantly reduce KYC regulations OR a feasible no-KYC or low-KYC method comes around, it's just going to end up being an "admire from a distance" sort of thing for me.

Unfortunately for me, decentralized exchanges like Bisq don't work for me in most cases either because most payment methods still require KYC, and cash by mail seems way too risky for my tastes.

Sadly, yes, which is why I can't get into Bitcoin... even though I'd really like to.

If anyone should lead Bitcoin's adoption and development of systems upon the technology, it should be the United States of America.

My next goal is to buy a NAS for streaming music, ebooks and manga, as well as backing up my GOG games.
