None of the major ones do, but it seems like DID is looking for a general purpose identity while nostr seems to be more centered around communications
So my brand is the opposite. It’s brutal honesty & hard work. From both of us.
And if you buy into the product, you’ll change your community because you changed yourself and then your community reaps the benefits of your growth too.
There are no promises here. And there are no scholarships until you decide to put in the work to create them with learning. All I can promise you is that I’m trying my best to provide the highest quality education I can offer.
Think about the reality that coding bootcamps sold folks employment loans. They didn’t sell education, they crashed that and sold you a dream.
Then the pipeline dried up and they were exposed for what they were. They were for profit FRAUDS.

I need an opinion. I wish I could @everyone.
Logically it makes sense that an education app should use web5 but over the years I've also come to reason that the answer to education intersecting with social media is to encourage people to stay on social media and to make social media better, rather than encouraging people to get off of social media.
So what do you think should govern the identity of an online student? An npub or a DID?
Reason tells me a DID, but for some reason my gut tells me to use an npub.
Am I understanding this right?
- nostr is a decentralized identity specialized for social graphs, i.e being able to have a universal bitcoin wallet across apps
- web5 is a general decentralized identity, i.e exchanging data privately at an airport
Nuh, I like you, but this is a word salad of confusion. I can only tackle one point per post, so I'll just pick something.
Nostr has an identity part, and a relay part. The identity part is valuable. It is valuable with relays and without relays.
As you say, another way the same keys are used are in bitcoin, which is a financial network, or time chain. There are no relays, but the same idenitity and signature system.
Fortunately for nostr, and unfortunately for some rivals, DID complete messed up how these identities can be used in other contexts, they took a decentralized identifier (which I actually made for bitcoin) and made it centralized and added shit coins. It works, but it's fundamentally broken.
Using nostr identity can be used in other contexts that relays and bitcoin. This is a whole new wave on innovatoin to be opened up. The NIPs are not doing it, right now, they are in fact more of a technical debt collection of hacks, which is OK.
I've started on an extensible way to use nostr identity together with web standards, which is what DIDs were supposed to be.
I'm slowly putting together a structured web standards friendly integration of nostr and the web, but there is little appetite right now for an extensible scalable arch for nostr, which is again OK : https://w3id.org/nostr
There's really no one doing this right, not AP, not Solid, not IPLD, not "web5", not DID, not bluesky. Nostr is probably in last place on the list right now, but has the most potential. With a clean identity system in multiple contexts you can easily scale to billions of people.
So facebook continue to win, and Elon wants to build his super app but has no clue how to do it. It will be interesting to watch the future unfold.
Personally trying to make sense out of this because I've hit a fork in the road with nostr & web5.

I'm somewhat confused when to use an npub vs. a web5 DID
Yikes 😭

Despite it being unpopular for some time, I’m glad that I did not let the algorithm compromise how I value honesty and pragmatism.
I teach people valuable skills to create security and inspiration - not to promise people wealth and luxury. That’s why I create scholarships with learning.
The other part is the acceptance that doing things the hard way feels better and produces more memories and satisfaction in one’s outcomes.

Part of this is because people are tired of feeling cheated by people that market excessively and vacuum the benefits of people’s time & attention

There is a growing trend for long-term thinking that values integrity and doing things the right way.

Sometimes if I don’t make sense on nostr it’s because I’m posting notes and screenshotting them for other platforms lol
…you know… the old school way
Tomorrow will be interesting since I’m going to stop presenting as Latino on TikTok. I figure I don’t need to feed the algorithm my sense of identity & I predict this will lower a source of depression I feel. Sort of a teacher’s burden.
Finally took a position on an investment I’ve wanted to trade on for some time.

Trump's influence on modern American language needs to be studied lol

We got foos from Latino Tiktok up in here. You have to give them a round of applause because leaving the Tiktok FYP is like trying to escape the tentacles of Cthulhu
now
More money more problems! Don't forget it chumps. That's financial advice.

did you guys really follow because I posted a stock market thing... I swear stock market content is so much more popular than software content. It's true on Tiktok too ;_;
working on a neat scholarship tracking tool. Who knows what this may do in the future lol
