Bitcoin is special because hashing is permissionless like violence. The permissionless power of the people is the ultimate check against corrupt systems. Bitcoin threatens permissionless revolution of the masses against any corrupt adversary every 10 minutes.
Bitcoin is peaceful power. Every additional miner threatens mutually assured preservation of the network, contrasted with each additional army threatening mutually assured destruction of society.
