Any client could accomplish this, they would use their own servers to store said notes before they were posted, on your behalf. Unless of course someone contributed a NIP that would add the relevant bits to a note that would make it “invisible” to a client before a certain time. Although, the latter would make the note already part of the network and a client would need to honor the NIP…
But just like you, many are waking up to the fact that it’s a deterrent, counterproductive. Maybe not a fail for the producer making money of your time and your content, but very much so a fail for the consumer.
How is it not? It promotes zombie-like behavior with nothing of context, the brain retains nothing of value. It’s literally the modern day equivalent of television channel-surfing. They can feed anything they want into your view.
