I think there is innate desire to create, to do something with our hands and contribute something of value for others. God has created is like this. Of course being dead in our sin, we make things, but they are faulty, weak, and broken.

I wrestle with doing or being something that contributes in creative ways. Partly out of my own lazieness and sin I don't carry through with many things, and yet, there is still something driving and wanting to do that.

I want to write, I want to run servers (relays for #nostr and #simpleXchat), create a bible app for a specific group for example. Of course there has been other interests as well, but they don't often see the light of day. I often want to make something, to do something, and to feel like I've helped someone else and learned something new in the process.

I write this because of my day job, which is helping people with various IT stuff, often feels unimportant and unnecessary to them. It's discouraging and demotivating. Some days are like this. More than I care to admit. Some days are brighter than normal. I'm hoping tomorrow is that day.

When I was a kid, I was probably at or near the peak of the demoscene. My close friend got me into the music being created and he and a few other friends got into Scream Tracker (s3m) and Impulse Tracker (IT). Listening to these old tunes brings back a ton of memories from my childhood. Just came across https://chiptune.app/ on Hacker News that have a number of tunes including popular classics. Being on #nostr feels like a fresh start in a way. I have been on #twitter since its early days (less than a year after its launch) and been have been on #facebook, #Instagram,​ #mastedon,​ #gab,​ #minds,​ #parler,​ #pixelfed,​ and #mewe and others in some form.

As​ ​with any social media platform, the temptation always seems to be to make a name for one self. Get as many followers as possible. Have a shtick. Appear to be the primary expert.

It's tempting to fall into this trap. To what to garner an audience and be someone. I hate it. And I find myself wanting the same here. The temptation of likes is there, but now there is a financial incentive.

So what do I do here? What do I post about? I'm a follower of Jesus and many of these corners on the internet feel dark. I'm called to be light and point people to Jesus. How is that to be done in a way that is 'influential' yet in a honoring way.

I'm also a tech guy and in both technology and the Bible I feel inadequate to even speak to an audience at any level such as the one here (or any other platform.

I've chosen to be a bit anonymous in all this, and not sure what will be my 'shtick', but I hope I can at least have the tiniest positive impact.
