@Objective_fox27 @UcG_kilo @crystalmundypsy @LisaSelinDavis @MCSeto It doesn't matter what we call it.
Pedophiles exist just like pyromaniacs exist. And we should do everything possible to give them the help and support they need so they can control their tendencies and not harm anyone.
Is there some sort of hypothetical sexualization-free Baywatch where all the lifeguards are obese and dressed like nuns?
Is this a goal we should be striving toward?
@baywatchwatch @burncoryburn @charlesmihelich @HhiggZ
Did they portray Mitch Buchannon (David Hasselhoff) as a very attractive 38 year old man? Yes.
Is that a bad thing?
Are we like those people who eat at McDonald's 5 times a week but constantly criticize the unhealthy meals there?
Every TV show we watch every day all year is full of sexy people but society demands virtue signaling from us in the form of "They Sexualized Hasselhoff!!!"?
Assuming that it is in fact possible to "sexualize" a person who is obviously very sexy to begin with, is sexualizing them good or bad? Why?
Where exactly is the desexualized baseline?
I'll have to post the audio of this insane exchange, because the sexualization of Hasselhoff is also mentioned. Hasselhoff was hired specifically because he was beautiful and sexy. Tom Selleck turned down the roll, precisely because he didn't want to be a sex symbol.
I suppose it would've been possible to show her curves a bit more often, or add some cleavage to each scene, but why on earth is anyone concerned about the exact amount of sexy the producers chose? Is the world better or worse because we saw more or less of Erika's body?
One of our podcaster friends said this week "They do a good job of not sexualizing Erika Eleniak" which doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
She was hired specifically because she was sexy and beautiful. She was sexual (and naked in Playboy) before she was ever on Baywatch.
If sexual predators are such a problem why isn't sexual predator a crime?
