It’s just my alby address but I had the address mapped to my own domain by adding the lnurlp document on https://oxtr.dev/.well-known/lnurlp/0xtr
huh.. it worked before but it suddenly stopped working.. Fixed it now but spare your precious sats!
On nostr people usually just do it for fun. Some people have paid me sats for running a relay that is open (and free) for anyone to use. One user wanted to pay for a domain I bought, so they just sent me sats for it. And a looot of people sent me some sats as a birthday gift a week ago (they were way to kind, sent way to many sats).
On a more serious note, some bitcoiners really like the idea of “value for value” (V4V) where people pay eachother for different kinds of services.
One example is stacker.news which basically is a reddit clone but upvotes are replaced with sats. So you can tip sats to both posts and comments you either find valueable or agree with or whatever other cause. If someone writes a good guide you find helpful, you can tip them some sats for their work.
Another example is Fountain.fm which is a podcasting app where you stream satoshis to the podcast you listen to and the satoshis goes directly to the podcast host (or whatever they have set up). On some podcasts, you can actually get paid x amount of sats per second or minute to listen. You “stream” sats back an forth as the bitcoiners call it.
Yeah, a lot of clients let’s you set it in your profile metadata where you set your profile pic and name. Then when it’s set, some clients show a icon with a ⚡️ icon or something that people can click to send you some bitcoin.
oh lol, you don’t have to send me anything. But what error did you get?
If you don’t tip the Nostrich, the baby will be a Twitter baby. You do not want that..
Most people on here are talking about bitcoin wallets. There are many different wallets available but most people seem to use Breez, Wallet of Satoshi, Blue Wallet and Muun.
Nostr doesn’t really have anything to do with Bitcoin, at least protocol wise. Nostr and bitcoin share some similarities in the use of public key cryptography and something called Schnorr signatures.
Bitcoin microtransactions also work very well on nostr which enables frictionless and very fast cross border payments into the mix.
Yeah, if you’re an iPhone user you can download “Damus” which is #[6]’s client. On Android, you can download an app called Amethyst from the android app store.
There are several other clients being developed but you’d have to either build them yourself from source or go to their Github repos to get the APK file (for Android phones). That’s a bit more technical.
Now that is a great question!
A purple nostrich will just suddenly arrive at your door one day carrying your future baby. Where the nostrich got it from is a mystery!
😂
If you’re new to all this, you’re an important user for the devs building the clients! Ask questions, talk about what is hard to understand and explain how your user experience is. Super helpful for those building nostr clients!
no I’m running nostr-rs-relay: https://github.com/scsibug/nostr-rs-relay
Started as a small $5 Digital Ocean VPS but had to upgrade/move it when Jack arrived
Yeah, it’s currently running on a Hetzner CX51 VPS (Upgraded from CPX31)
I’m backing up the DB as well so it’s still down
Upgrading my relay to the latest version to hopefully improve the performance a bit, relay will be down for a couple of minutes.
I hope custodial LN wallet providers are ready for this, lol
