Proof of Bridge
Everyone knows the Eiffel Tower in Paris, but did you know that Gustave Eiffel also left his mark in Porto, Portugal? The Ponte de Dona Maria Pia, completed in 1877, was designed by Eiffel to span the Douro River, connecting Porto with Vila Nova de Gaia. This iron railway bridge was an engineering marvel at the time, showcasing Eiffel’s innovative use of iron structures long before his famous Parisian tower. Though no longer in operation, its elegant arches and intricate ironwork continue to stand as a tribute to 19th-century engineering. For those visiting Porto, the bridge is a hidden gem, symbolizing both the city’s industrial past and Eiffel’s lasting legacy beyond France. Don’t miss the chance to glimpse this lesser-known masterpiece!

Inside the Atrium of "La Pedrera"(Casa Milà) in Barcelona

The building was commissioned in 1906 by Pere Milà and his wife Roser Segimon. The building did not respect any rules of conventional style, for which Gaudí received much criticism. To begin with, the name "La Pedrera" is in fact a nickname assigned by the citizens who disapproved of its unusualness. The unique structure of the building and the relationship between the building's architect and Pere Milà became the object of ridicule for the people of Barcelona and many humorous publications of the time.
Casa Milà is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Works of Antoni Gaudí".

Castells are human towers built by members of amateur groups, usually as part of annual festivities in Catalonian towns and cities. The traditional setting is the square in front of the town hall balcony. The human towers are formed by castellers standing on the shoulders of one another in a succession of stages (between six and ten). Each level of the tronc, the name given to the second level upwards, generally comprises two to five heavier built men supporting younger, lighter-weight boys or girls. The pom de dalt – the three uppermost levels of the tower – comprises young children. Anyone is welcome to form the pinya, the throng that supports the base of the tower.
