Histories of ages past Unenlightened shadows cast Down through all eternity The crying of humanity 'Tis then when the Hurdy Gurdy Man Comes singing songs of love. - Donovan

De Niro’s Al Capone portrayal in “The Untouchables” was precisely what I thought of when I saw tRump’s mob boss type Truth Social post yesterday

September, 2012: I met actor Kurtwood Smith, who made a stop at the Democratic party's headquarters in town. I talked to him for a few minutes about "That 70s Show" and the movie “Hitchcock” with Anthony Hopkins as Alfred Hitchcock. Red - I mean Kurtwood - said he only had three scenes in the film and Hopkins is awesome to work with. I told him it may have been three scenes but ya have to make 'em count. He looked at me and said, "Brian, you're absolutely right.” It was bad ass.

Somewhere in my album collection I’ve got the 45 rpm single of “Immigrant Song” off of “Led Zeppelin lll” I found at a record shop in downtown Minneapolis in 1983. This classic is the B side that unfortunately never made it on a Zeppelin studio album when the band was together but popped up later, I believe, on subsequent compilations Jimmy Page assembled. Regardless, it’s a definite favorite of mine.

This just might be the best pre-concert sound check I’ve ever heard. Then again, I’m a friggen Zepp head so I’m a just a tad biased.

When the Stones released this one in ‘97, I was like “Kickass! They’re back!” Even my kids (11, 8 and 7 at the time) liked this one.

I could “reroot” all kindsa political stuff - and I do - but damn if there doesn’t need to be somethin’ to break in there from time to time: clear sailing in Portland’s harbor, Portland, Maine. Photo by Hank Pfeifle.

Too nice a night to stop the jams here on deck: “The One Thing” was the hit off of “Shabooh Shabah” - hell, it put them on the “music map” in the States - but again, there were other tunes off that album I’d play in my younger years as a professional radio pronouncticator (a word New York City DJ Scott Shannon pulled out of his ass). And these guys were actually a pretty good band.

In my humble opinion, one of the better Phil Collins solo tunes. Wayyyy better than “Sussudio” which was off the same album and better known. I played this one whenever possible when I was doin’ the radio thing in the mid 80s and into the mid 90s. Along with that pirate radio station I ran while deployed to northern Iraq in 2004.

While everyone was goin’ ga ga over “Another One Bites The Dust” my sophomore year in high school, 15 year-old me was jammin’ to this one off that album. Kinda like the nearly 59 year-old me is doing right fuckin’ now! Brian May’s guitar work here as stellar as ever.

Bring it, Johnny Reb. BHAHAHAHAHAHA

The bourbon is mighty tasty this evening on deck. So is the tuneage. Saw these guys at a bar in Torrington, Wyoming in 1985.

Tomorrow evening for Green Bay Packers Family Night at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, I’ll be doing the photog thing for the newspaper I work for. The last time I shot photos at Lambeau was during a regular season game between the Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs in 2015. While I didn’t wear any Chicago Bear apparel for that game or two previous games I shot, I’m thinkin’ I may change things up a bit this time with my Halas hat. It’s just li’l ol’ me. They’ll never notice. 😁
