Framed #680 (nope. I didn't watch much yesterday evening. I went for a much smaller walk because I didn't have as much time and wanted to keep up the momentum without over doing it, and potentially ending up where I started off. Seems to have paid off - there are ton of post-hoc fallacies, potentially, in that statement. I'm just grateful for the change in the level of inflammation. Which is still low. It'll come back, I don't know when, or the extent, but almost certainly it will, and I'll begin again. My cold has gone. No snot, cough, remnants of a headache, fatigue, or sore throat left. Not that I had much in the way of a cough or sore throat. Minimal in both cases. Gone now. The usual Saturday ahead. I prefer cold and dry weather to warmer and wet. It's going to be warmer and wet. I prefer deserts to swamps. I'm more of a chuckwalla than an alligator. Or maybe one of those arctic lizards but they're tiny. Or not a lizard at all. A, somewhat, cultured apeman. I woke up and most music sounds like cosplay. I nearly resorted to jazz.)

Framed #679 (nah. Yesterday I went for a proper walk, which I accept is a subjective term, because the flare up had broken and it's important to keep up some basic exercise. So I picked a direction, this time north, and walked until I thought it was sensible to stop. I went early because I generally prefer things to be less busy and did about 8km there and about 2km back because I caught a train. I think I could easily do 30km on a good day. It was around -4c when I left and around 1c when I got back. One of the things I like about England is that, generally speaking, it is easy to be a pedestrian because of the number of footpaths. Whether it is city, town or countryside. No fun anecdotes this time other than a snappy dog in a field. I don't want to exaggerate because I don't know the dog, and it was a middle aged labrador, but I was in the middle of a fairly large field on the wealdway, and I could hear the owner imploring the barking/snarling dog to come back. There were two dogs. The younger was on a leash. It got to within five metres of me and say there snarling and barking. So I thought "I'm either going to have to fight a middle aged labrador dog, retreat, or " and I turned on the charm, smiled and said "who's a lovely dog, nice to see you, who's a lovely dog" and other dog platitudes. I held out my hand and it stopped snarling and barking I gave it strokes and it went peacefully back to its owner. I suppose I was lucky it was a nice dog, and my perception of threat exceeded the actual threat. I watched True Detective, the new one, and I'm kind of hoping they don't get too supernatural or mystical because it isn't Twin Peaks and I find native = mystical to be a bit Algernon Blackwood. It'd be like viewing British society through the eyes of Christianity. Which it is in part, but I couldn't imagine a Sherlock Holmes story, or crap Victorian whodunnit, where Christian iconography is an integral part of the plot. I'm sure it exists as an exception, or exceptional like The Name of The Rose. People are people they just do different stuff some of the time, little pervades everything.)

Postbox next to a telephone pole. The angles and composition of this make me shudder a little. It's supposed to be about the shadows and I couldn't line everything up without losing the central line of the shadows - one extends into the observer and me as I took the picture. I'm experimenting. Mea culpa.

Framed #677 (No. I've got a cold. It's not going to stop me doing anything and I don't feel that unwell. It's just tedious. In photography I very much like attention to detail with angles so I usually gravitate towards quite strict compositional rules and I'm trying to break free of that. Albeit in a methodical way so if I post the occasional picture here where the angles are off I'm experimenting a little bit. It's difficult for me to do because the angles stick out like a man in an orange top hat. I find it jarring. Curiously with my own pictures. Not other people's as much. I stopped watching a bloody awful, straight to VHS, slaher movie which was culturally interesting but basically rubbish, and watched the first episode of Kracow Monsters to stay awake. I'm going to blow my nose and carry on. On the plus side I had the first continuous night's sleep without being awoken by my back for about a week or two. My back and general inflammation levels are good by which I mean low inflammation and barely hurting.)

Framed #676 (non. I watched Primal Rage, a dubious horror film from 1988. It is a film that is amazing because it got made at all. The dialogue is often stilted, the characters are stereotypes, and every premise/subject in the film is like a guestimate by someone who lacks an understanding of their own lack of knowledge of the subjects involved. The plot revolves around an elite college where a doctor is experimenting of regenerating brain cells in a baboon. A reporter from the student newspaper breaks into the lab, a kind of gonzo stereotype of a man, gets bitten by said baboon, which infects him with a kind of baboon blood rage AIDS. Other people get infected. The special effects are functional but comic book. The hero is a cool student journalist on a cool moped, the women are women, the rape jocks are rape jocks and the plot resolution is absurd. Turns out it was primarily written by an Italian, which explains the stilted dialogue and stereotypes about an American college as imagined by someone whom got their ideas about it from films in another language. Plus the cool moped. The music is 10/10 for what someone deeply uncool thinks cool music should sound like. It is 7/10 on the 'problematic’ scale. I'm not sure if I want to find out if there is a sequel because I don't want to mar the memories of its progenitor. Plus I'd be amazed it exists. I give it a 7/10 on the "this exists*, amuses me, and the world is a strange place" scale. It was on Prime Video. I woke up at 3:00am involuntarily.)

Framed #675 (nah. I watched Foe and it's a quite different in tone, but equally good, interpretation of the book. It was ages ago I read the book, way before the COVID brouhaha, and I may be misremembering, but it felt like the book was from the perspective of one person and the film was from the perspective of another. Aside from far more sadness and emotional content in the film it was remarkably similar, with the caveat of it being different angles on the same scene, equally valid. The fact it has 5.4 on IMDB is a little unjust but there are plenty of worse films with higher scores and plenty of excellent films arount the 5 mark. Such aberrations tend to be exceptions but I think people should read Foe before or after watching the film, if only because it's interesting to see how one maps to the other. I'd give it a solid 7/10 on the IMDB scale. I'm typing this at ~1.30 because between a bad back and stupidly took a nap for half an hour earlier today, so I'm now approaching sleep realistically. I'm going to get up early and not repeat the nap. Otherwise all is well and I am looking forward to the coming week.)

Framed #674 (nah. Usual Saturday. I woke up at 4 with a 'medium bad' bad back and still nasally congested. I should have attempted to go back to sleep after a bit of stretching rather than doing puzzles, but I wanted something to distract from pain, which doing the puzzles did even if I wasn't that good at Wordall.xyz because I'm distracted (only a 4.5 on the obdurate toddler scale out of 10) and La Palabra Del DΓa hasn't reset yet. Last night I watched a German show on Netflix which basically brings out misanthropic tendencies so I don't really want to to draw attention to it. Yesterday I made collages, using GIMP and an inkjet printer, of Thomas And Friends, Peppa Pig, Balamory and various other things my, adult, quite autistic nephew is obsessed with and went to the local town center with him. It's quite stressful, but also quite rewarding, and it's nice to get out: Myself, gran and him. People are very good with him despite him being around 6ft, quite loud, and built like a caveman. He doesn't smell or look like one, being clean and freshly shaven, and was dressed in a puffer jacket, fleece, jean sweatpants, soft helmet, and white, size 14 (UK) Adidas. He's akin to a giant toddler who has an encyclopedic knowledge of Thomas & Friends, Balamory, Peppa Pig and other things. He's generally quite gregarious and enough people know him in town to enter into his world and talk about things he talks about. He's semi-verbal. He's obsessed with DVDs, which are a dead format, relegated to the basement of CeX. I'm generally not keen on lauding old media formats because, by and large, what replaced them is better (often not initially and sometimes not at all). On the other hand I haven't memorized the 'choose an episode' screen from upwards of 10 DVDs and gain little comfort from them. DRM is not his friend and he can easily tear DVDs, case and all, in half if in a foul mood. My back will improve tomorrow as I do stuff, I can say that with certainty because, at a minimum, distraction is good and sensible stretching and exercise helps. Distraction is a curiously underrated drug given it's so sought after.)

Framed #673 (nah, although not a 'nah' nah, I want to watch it and haven't yet. I didn't watch anything good yesterday. I got five minutes into Foe and got distracted so I decided to watch it when I'm less distracted. I enjoyed the book and read it shortly after it was released. So I don't want to spoiler it but I hope it doesn't deviate from the book too much, the sense of alienation from self, a relationship and ideals. It was more Bladerunner than crying in a shower. Although Bladerunner is case in point for why deviating from a book or a story isn't necessarily a bad thing, so I'll reserve judgement, Saoirse Ronan is a good actor. I think had Lord of The Rings deviated significantly from the book it would have been better, which I can approximate by watching films that aren't based upon Lord of The Rings. There are, as far as I am aware, no good Jose Saramago film versions and I keep meaning to rent The Leopard because I want to see how the Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa book was adapted for screen. The book was beautifully bleak. I don't majorly dislike Lord of The Rings, it's good and deserved it's success, I just wouldn't choose to reread it or watch a film based on it. I know a lot of books with mixed receptions that would make great screenplays.)
