Considering recent events, I figure that some folks would be interested in a forerunner. A long time ago, General Smedley Butler was approached with a plan by corporate interests to puppet the US Presidency. It is due to his integrity that it failed.
Unfortunately, as with Reconstruction, the perpetrators of the plot weren’t removed from power. Thus, the seeds of today’s crisis were likely waiting for a chance to sprout.

Open Source Android Keyboard

I saw a post on reddit asking for open source android keyboards in recent years since a lot of the posts were older. One user recommended “Futo Keyboard”.
To be clear, I’m not affiliated with them but I’ve been trying them based on that reddit response and I just wanted to share here in case anyone else has been looking.
In short, this keyboard is about as close to awesome as you can get so far. Features I like:
Feels like GBOARD
Works fully offline
Gesture typing (about 75% as accurate as GBoard)
Built in offline speech to text (no third party engine needed to download
I’ve tried other options like heliboard and openboard and they are great too, but I think so far this has been the best I’ve tried and I wanted to recommend it on here in case anyone else is looking. Feel free to share any other setups or recommendations below!

Kitchen scales recommendations

My current digital kitchen scales (Brabantia) go through batteries faster than I would like. I use rechargeable batteries, but still.
I was looking for long-lasting mechanical kitchen scales or at least one of those kinetic energy scales (turn the knob to power it) to use in the kitchen. Any model that can measure in the ~1g to 5kg range with a tare function is more than enough.
Does anyone have any recommendations or experience with these types of scales (knob or mechanical)? E.g., does the knob thing break easily?
