please dump any small browsers you know about, i’d like to try them out
the two i can think of are emacs’s eww and links (text mode). eww has been surprisingly useful, even without js support and extremely barebones html rendering
this is eww:

and this is links:

sadly, neither is able to login to lemmy, but I was able to login to mastodon through https://brutaldon.org/
EDIT: ooh, i forgot about lynx (not links). also command-line. it managed to successfully login to lemmy:

The end of Skype.
submitted by https://lemmy.ml/u/RalziTech
Tech content creators and news sites have recently dug into an Insider build of Skype’s files, to find a string of text which reads as follows:
“Starting in May 2025, Skype will no longer be available. By logging into Microsoft Teams with your Skype account, your chats and contacts will appear in the app so you can pick up where you left off. Alternatively, you can export your Skype data”
This message comes as no surprise to those who saw the writing on the walls before this, especially since people had already jumped over to other platforms, such as Zoom, Discord, and even Microsoft’s own-brand Microsoft Teams.
I myself have fond memories of contacting friends and family with Skype, especially during the pandemic before I got Zoom.
Farewell, Skype. You will always live on in the hearts and minds of those that used it.

Social Security Administration could cut up to 50% of its workforce
submitted by https://lemmy.world/u/MicroWave
Summary
The Social Security Administration plans to reduce its workforce by 7,000 to 30,000 employees, potentially reducing its current workforce of 60,000 by up to 50%.
The agency plans “significant workforce reductions,” reassignments, and voluntary separations. Office leases in multiple states are already being terminated.
Critics warn this will severely impact service delivery to 72.5 million beneficiaries, causing field office closures and longer wait times.
The move sparks concerns about reduced access to benefits and comes amid existing understaffing and looming funding challenges.

'They’re going to deport us’: Trump’s immigration policies prompt some children to skip school
submitted by https://lemmy.world/u/gAlienLifeform
Amid the Trump administration’s promises of mass deportations, some schools in Massachusetts and nationwide in recent weeks saw an uptick in absences among migrant students. Both the families and some Massachusetts superintendents say the federal government’s immigration policies — which now allow Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to enter schools to make arrests — are pushing immigrant children away from protected learning environments. As families grapple with the prospect of immigration enforcement around schools, some have opted to pull their children from classes.
