yeah that's why they'll probably not license and attempt to buy out the rights to the patent lump sum. a patent holder that can't defend it is worse than useless, they're a sink. how much do kel tec ask for their designs? probably a lot if demand is high. is it worth it? these companies hire dweebs that crunch numbers all day to predict that
the patent holder holds the responsibility for defending the patent if infringement is hurting the licensee's revenue. or so it has been for every tech licensure deal i've had anything to do with
and if they fail to do so they can be sued by the licensee

it doesn't matter if i've taken it out of the stock or not (i haven't had to since removing the cosmoline, actually) but all my garand actions need a warmup clip. Maybe it's because i'm using a thin surface smear of autozone wheel bearing grease that smells like a west texas oil well instead of muh red lithium grease but i tend to get failure to feeds on that first group of the day. runs like a swiss watch after that, both the .30-06 and carbine.
the cost: weighing 15 lbs and still being a late 1940s rifle at heart so it needs plenty of possibly temp sensitive grease to work smoove
