Don’t believe the hype. The recent anti-signal media is a smear campaign from Telegram in a fight to keep its marketshare. Don’t trust the closed source app over the open one.

The Telegram “reproducible builds” on iOS only work if you’re running an old iPhone with an old version of iOS that you jailbreak and then sideload Telegram, and even then they’re still encrypting parts that you can’t verify. That’s pretty useless to almost all users of Telegram on iOS.

I'm all for saying Signal doesn't go far enough. But telegram complaining about Signals security? It's not even in the same ballpark. Even Facebook massager has better e2e encryption.

I'll take telegram as a discord alternative but that's about it.

On amethyst you can go to backup keys and get a copy. Nos2x-fox for Desktop/Android Firefox in the settings. Not sure for most other apps.

One saving grace is a company can't be forced to delete content by a country they don't do business in. Even if it's accessible in other countries they still should be safe if they are not registered as a business in the country that wants the content deleted.

Looking forward to better speech synthesis. Not been celebrities' voices. Can imagine it'd be pretty nice in many places from document narration to dynamic dialogue in games.

I just had a comment removed from instagram for violating their community standards. Apparently they think I’m spamming for mentioning Unicode I guess. Honestly I’m not sure. It was in response to a instagram rule asking why the kiwi bird isn’t an emoji.

I posted it once, and to a instagram post from someone I’m following. I don’t think I’ve made a comment about Unicode or emojis on instagram before.

This is crazy.
